Broward’s Cowards Persecute Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Student for Defending the 2nd Amendment

I’ve written about Kyle Kashuv on several occasions (see herehere, and here).

Kashuv is the most visible of the pro-2nd Amendment contingent of students who survived the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. He has worked hand-in-hand with the families of the victims and the politicians in Florida and D.C. to pass new laws that would make it more difficult for another shooting like the one at Douglas to take place.

While some of his fellow students, prodded by the anti-freedom Left, were out marching, shouting, and name-calling in an effort to destroy our liberty, Kashuv was working behind the scenes to make schools across America safer, without undermining the liberties of his fellow citizens.

Kashuv has argued that much of what the anti-gun left has been suggesting over the last few weeks would actually do little to make school safer. Indeed, while his fellow students have been marching to take away the rights of law abiding citizens, Kashuv has instead been meeting with legislators and getting important new laws passed.

These three bills which were all co-authored by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and supported by Kashuv and the families of the Douglas High School victims, have all become law and are meant to seal the gaps exposed by the shooting in Parkland, FL.

The bills aren’t perfect, and the “Red Flag” bill in particular raises some 2nd Amendment red flags (pun intended), but it’s more evidence that while liberals are out protesting and grandstanding, it’s conservatives, like Kashuv and Rubio, working to actually make a difference.

The point here is that Kashuv is a pro-freedom activist who has actually accomplished quite a bit (as a teenager) and become a public figure with a national voice.

Which is likely why the leftists in Broward County are now harassing him.

This past Friday, Kashuv and his father went to their local gun range where the young man learned how to safely use a firearm, and then shot a gun for the first time in his life!

It was a fun and educational time for Kashuv, who then posted pictures and video of the excursion to his social media pages.

Sadly, it appears that Kashuv may be the only responsible and mature person at Douglas High School, because what happened next is a complete travesty. When Kyle showed up to school on Monday, the school leaders had a surprise waiting for him.

From the Daily Wire:

Near the end of third period, my teacher got a call from the office saying I need to go down and see a Mr. Greenleaf. I didn’t know Mr. Greenleaf, but it turned out that he was an armed school resource officer. I went down and found him, and he escorted me to his office. Then a second security officer walked in and sat behind me. Both began questioning me intensely. First, they began berating my tweet, although neither of them had read it; then they began aggressively asking questions about who I went to the range with, whose gun we used, about my father, etc. They were incredibly condescending and rude.

Then a third officer from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office walked in, and began asking me the same questions again. At that point, I asked whether I could record the interview. They said no. I asked if I had done anything wrong. Again, they answered no. I asked why I was there. One said, “Don’t get snappy with me, do you not remember what happened here a few months ago?”

They continued to question me aggressively, though they could cite nothing I had done wrong. They kept calling me “the pro-Second Amendment kid.” I was shocked and honestly, scared. It definitely felt like they were attempting to intimidate me.

I was treated like a criminal for no reason other than having gone to the gun range and posted on social media about it.

While the fascist officers wouldn’t allow him to record the session, something which he is legally allowed to do, Kashuv did provide the note calling him to the school resource officer’s office as proof that the meeting took place.

Kyle Kashuv is a hero. He was the driving force behind three laws which have already been used effectively to protect our schools from violence, including allowing authorities to intervene with the brother of the Douglas High School shooter who was similarly troubled.

He has found a way to make our schools safer, while still defending the constitutional rights of his fellow citizens.

This young man has already accomplished more in Washington, D.C. than many politicians who serve for years ever do.

Sadly, when he goes home the leaders in Broward County treat him as a leper for defending their rights. These officers should be ashamed for browbeating Kashuv, first because he’s still just a child, and secondly because he’s done nothing wrong.

Conservative pundit Kurt Schlichter may have put it best when he reminded those officers of how cowardly they were:

They were too scared to confront the gunman murdering innocent children, but they had no problem harassing an unarmed child for being willing to speak out for liberty.
