I am wondering how this is all going to play out, but for the time being, there is no DACA deal and Democrats have apparently decided to kick the can down the road a bit by funding DC until February 8 of this year when we are sure to have another WWE Royal Rumble again to put everyone back on edge.

On Monday, President Donald Trump signed a short-term spending bill that would fund the feds through the eighth of February.

The Daily Mail reports:

The three-day government shutdown came to an end Monday after the House passed a resolution to restore funding that had cleared the Senate hours earlier.

The deal passed the House easily, with nearly every Republican voting for it and about a third of House Democrats, following a breakthrough in the Senate.

The final vote was 266 to 150, effectively ending a three-day shutdown that furloughed workers and closed some government services, even as the Trump administration kept functions deemed vital running.

Fourteen House members didn’t vote.

The key development occurred across the Capitol Monday, after Senate Democrats accepted a deal to reopen the government, after Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pledged to take up immigration legislation – including a permanent fix for the controversial DACA program – in the next three weeks.

So, this entire ending of the shutdown was not because it actually solved any of the problems, but was simply a promise to work on a DACA fix, which is something they were talking about this past time, wasn’t it?

So, instead of just settling in and just saying there will be no DACA deal and there will be funding of the border wall and only the constitutional spending outlined in the Constitution, we are going to reopen and continue funding “non-essential” stuff in DC, which is unconstitutional, along with other unconstitutional spending.

And why?  Cause it scores certain political points and keeps anyone from actually looking bad.  Both sides are claiming victory, of course.

“While today’s vote ends the Trump Shutdown, it does not diminish our leverage,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said in a “Dear Democratic Colleague” note to her caucus members. “While Members may vote differently on this bill, we are unified in our determination to meet the needs of the American people with our Better Deal: Better Jobs, Better Wages, Better Future.”

Obviously, she called it a “Trump Shutdown,” even though Congress is the one that determines what they will send to the White House.  No, people like Pelosi and Schumer own the shutdown and that’s just fine.  Many of us would love to see it shut down a bit longer, to be honest.

Pelosi also made an attempt at being patriotic by referring to the Constitution, as though she even knows what it says, when she tried to make it seem as though she cared about those who serve in the military.

“I just want to say something to our men and women in uniform, we in Congress take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people. We value the service and courage and leadership of our men and women in uniform,” Pelosi said.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Democrats continue to push for amnesty for those who have broken US immigration law.  Now, they claim they are sad as the March 5 deadline approaches for the expiration of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“It’s a great disappointment to me,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said. “It’s a great disappointment to the more than 300,000 young people in the state of California … I’m just very disappointed.”

Many Left activists said the Democrats caved, and apparently, they did to a certain extent.

The Hill reports:

“It’s official: Chuck Schumer is the worst negotiator in Washington – even worse than Trump,” said Murshed Zaheed, political director at Credo, a progressive advocacy group.

“Any plan to protect Dreamers that relies on the word of serial liars like [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell [R-Ky.], [House Speaker] Paul Ryan [R-Wis.] or [President] Donald Trump is doomed to fail,” Zaheed added.

Schumer and McConnell brokered a deal to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government until Feb. 8 in exchange for a compromise from Senate Republican leadership to hold a vote on DACA-replacement legislation by that date.

Activists were incensed at the deal, as it includes no guarantees that a bill will pass — nor does it tie an immigration bill to a must-pass measure to give Democrats leverage.

The agreement also includes no guarantees that a potential Senate agreement on DACA could see a vote in the House.

“Today’s cave by Senate Democrats — led by weak-kneed, right-of-center Democrats — is why people don’t believe the Democratic Party stands for anything,” said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. “These weak Democrats hurt the party brand for everyone and make it harder to elect Democrats everywhere in 2018.”

Of course, there is no guarantee.  That’s why it’s simply kicking the can down the road to February when we will be seeing all this again.

A lot of this though seems to be showing that Trump is not going to just give up and continue DACA negotiations without funding the border wall.

As for Trump, he was merely taunting Democrats for their support of those in violation of the law, which Daniel Greenfield so brilliantly pointed out today.

Now, we could come up to February and they allow it to be negotiated and sell the American people out.  However, I would guess that we are in for more political theater in February (thus the WWE comment at the beginning) and these same people will kick the can down the road into March, right up till the deadline and then there will be a “crisis” that will have to be dealt with involving DACA recipients and then a deal will be struck right on time.

I’d be thrilled to say I’m wrong in what I see coming, but I don’t think I am.  It’s happened too many times before.

The shutdown should have continued until Republicans simply pushed through the border wall funding.  They could have done it, but didn’t.
