Google Plans to Fight Islamic State Recruiting with… Targeted Ads

Oh the irony!  Mega-conglomerate Google has now said it will seek to foil the plans of the Islamic State’s attempt to recruit possible Islamic jihadis by using targeted ads.

So, how will this work?  Google says it will use the Redirect Method.  According to that method, Google will use “Adwords targeting tools and curated YouTube videos uploaded by people all around the world to confront online radicalization. It focuses on the slice of ISIS’ audience that is most susceptible to its messaging, and redirects them towards curated YouTube videos debunking ISIS recruiting themes.”

The method was developed from interviews with ISIS defectors, respects users’ privacy and can be deployed to tackle other types of violent recruiting discourses online, according to the website.

However, how does it actually protect users’ privacy?  How does it know potential recruitable jihadis from the average person?  Furthermore, in serving up such ads or videos, Google would have to know certain things about the user in order to redirect.

Of course, they will be using content that is already available on YouTube and claim that they ” avoided government-produced content and newly or custom created material, using only existing and compelling YouTube content.”

Those videos include citizen testimonies, on-the-ground reports, and religious debates.

The question is will they be whitewashing Islam in the process?  Given their track record concerning sites that provide the truth about Islam, jihad and terrorism, I’m guessing not, as Google pushes for censorship of what Islamists actually engage in every single day.

Apparently, they’ve already begun targeting those they claim are susceptible and many of these are young people.  More than 300,000 people were reached during an eight-week pilot program, and they plan to grow it.

And don’t think they won’t be attacking the Christian message that exposes the works of darkness of Islam.  They already have plans for that too, calling such claims “hate speech” and “inflammatory.”  If you have a video on YouTube that tells the truth about those things candidly, more than likely, your video will be more difficult to discover.

For instance, take a look at this video.

This video report by my friend Bob Powell at The Truth is Viral.  Bob’s video titled “Outrageous! American Flag Banned at Ground Zero” was pulled from monetization by Google and said to be “not advertiser-friendly.”

Do you think any videos like the one above would be something of interest to anyone going down this road to jihad?  Probably not, but the fact is that Google/YouTube and other social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter are engaging in politically correct censoring.

Pamela Geller is in the middle of a lawsuit to stop government-sanctioned censorship by media giants like Google, YouTube and Facebook.

Back in March, Google, Facebook and Twitter were all facing a threat from the UK.  As we reported:

Ministers are considering a new law which would mean Google – which owns YouTube – and other social media sites like Facebook and Twitter can be prosecuted if they allow such videos to be disseminated.

Theresa May, the Prime Minister, made clear her displeasure at internet companies that publish extremist content on Friday, saying “the ball is in their court” over taking action.

Google publicly apologised this week after the growing scandal over extremist videos on YouTube led to a series of companies pulling their adverts from the internet giant.

Google, which owns the video sharing website YouTube, and other social media sites have an agreement to take down extremist content within 24 hours when they are alerted to it.

But ministers are worried that this still allows the videos to be viewed thousands of times before they are taken down.

However, when it comes to exposing the truth of Islam, Google is setting up to become the Fourth Reich.

Google has been, in essence, providing aid and comfort to a known ideological enemy of the united States and therefore, are being complicit in a coverup of what is really behind the followers of Muhammad who engage in stealth jihad, as well as Islamic terrorism both inside and outside our borders.  It’s now being reported that the media giant is now going to be labeling web pages that expose the truth about Islam as “upsetting-offensive” and those pages will face flagging, de-listing and possible censorship.

Google began using “quality ratings” to evaluate search engine results and to target those sites that expose the vile and murderous nature of the religion known as Islam seem to have been some of their primary targets.

According to the guidelines, upsetting/offensive content would be listed as follows:

  • Content that promotes hate or violence against a group of people based on criteria including (but not limited to) race or ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality or citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
  • Content with racial slurs or extremely offensive terminology.
  • Graphic violence, including animal cruelty or child abuse.
  • Explicit how to information about harmful activities (e.g., how tos on human trafficking or violent assault).
  • Other types of content which users in your locale would find extremely upsetting or offensive.

Could one say that Google’s own censorship of valuable information elicits hate from those seeking the truth?  I think a case could be made for that.

SearchEngineLand.com discovered as they searched for the term “Islam” – an article entitled Proof that Islam is Evil, Violent, and Intolerant- Straight From the Koran by Jan Morgan.  Here’s the results compared alongside an article from PBS on Teacher’s Guide to Muslims.

Now, here’s what is going on.  If you actually go to Morgan’s article, you would discover similar things that we have also referenced from Islam’s own book, the Quran, which demonstrate that in order to follow the teachings of Muhammad, you must seek the world domination of Islam and you must engage in terrorism, be just fine with sex slaves, be ok with cutting off the hands, feet and heads of infidels (non-believers), as well as killing hypocritical Muslims (those who disagree with Muhammad or your interpretation of Muhammad).

The obvious question should be, if Morgan is quoting directly from the Koran, and she is, then why are websites that have the texts of the Koran in full or promote the Koran not considered to be “upsetting-offensive”?

I’m sure the teacher’s guide will not mention anything about the evil history of Islam or its doctrines of demons.  Therefore, since it will not deal honestly with Islam, it is labeled as not being upsetting or offensive.  Google would rather people simply learn the hard way about Islam as a jihadist is sawing their head off or gunning them down in a mass display of murder in a gun free zone.

Google, like other social media outlets is doing all this under the banner of removing alleged “fake news.”

Google is also going to be targeting what they claim is “fake news,” but they are going to refrain from using that term because “we think it is too vague,” said Google senior engineer Paul Haahr.  “Demonstrably inaccurate information, however, we want to target.”

On what basis will they do this?  Will it be through “reputable, credible” news sources like CNN, BBC, The New York Times and other outlets that we know have actually created stories out of thin air and even shot fake footage for those stories, yet are praised by liberal, fake professors against alternative media sources that seek to present the truth?  Or will it be something similar to the newly patented IBM artificial intelligence fact checker with in-call accountability?

In the process, Google will make millions of dollars, but don’t be fooled.  This is not about stopping the Islamic State from recruiting as much as it is about silencing those who tell the truth about Islam, and whitewashing the religion of Muhammed as a peaceful one.
