International Olympic Committee to Allow Transgenders to Compete: Guidelines Altered to Promote Fairness

Many individuals wait with baited anticipation for the Academy Awards show to see wins “the best” in the film industry when it comes to performances, special effects, film, etc. The little man of gold is the goal for Hollyweird performers. But, this year, like the last, it is surrounded by controversy because Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have condemned the Academy for its lack of diversity, repeating last year’s #OscarsSoWhite movement. In response, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced they would remedy the situation by changing the rules and organizational structure to “boost diversity” among its members. It’s another reason to continue a boycott of the Academy Awards since awards should be based on performance and not skin color.

The Academy Awards and AMPAS are not the only performance awarding show and industry to garner controversy.

If you are a male, adventurous and wish to compete in the Olympic games, there’s hope for you. All you need to do is declare yourself a female, reduce your testosterone levels to below 10 nmol/L for 12 months prior to the games, and you can compete in the women’s games. The men meeting this criteria can even keep their current “equipment” — no gender altering surgery required.

The new transgender guidelines approved by the International Olympic Committee states, “To require surgical anatomical changes as a pre-condition to participation is not necessary to preserve fair competition and may be inconsistent with developing legislation and notions of human rights.” Males who identify as females can make their declaration to compete in the women’s events but the declaration cannot be changed for sporting purposes and must remain in place for four years at a minimum. The “transgender” individual has to keep their testosterone level below the limit of 10 nmol/L for the entire period of eligibility.

For all the males who were inadequate in sports, you can now compete in the Olympics against women as a woman without having to alter your gender, just your testosterone level, and maintain the identity as a woman for a minimum of four years.

According to Cyd Zeigler at OutSports.com, as covered by Breitbart:

The IOC held a “Consensus Meeting on Sex Reassignment and Hyperandrogenism” in November at which they created the new guidelines, loosening prior rules adopted in 2004 to allow transgender athletes into the Games. The previous rules required that transgender athletes must have undergone external genitalia changes and removal of gonads, as well as obtaining legal recognition of their assigned sex from appropriate official authorities.

The new guidelines attempt to justify themselves by citing various societies’ acceptance of fluid gender identity, writing, “Since the 2003 Stockholm Consensus on Sex Reassignment in Sports, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of autonomy of gender identity in society, as reflected in the laws of many jurisdictions worldwide.”

Well, the “Stockholm Consensus on Sex Reassignment in Sports” has spoken so it warrants the international recognition of mentally ill individuals in sports. Now that the “transgender” mental illness warrants a place in the international competition of athletes, this same “Stockholm ‘trans-‘ Syndrome” will need to address the mental illness of individuals declaring “no gender identity” to compete as well. After all, it’s about the “notion of human rights.”

In nature as created by God, males are biologically larger than females, in general, and have a different center of gravity. Men can lower their testosterone all they want; but, it doesn’t change the fact that certain “advantages” would still exist in events with transgender men competing against women. Robert S. Beil, M.D., of the Montefiore Medical Groups, agrees. He acknowledged, “MTF [male to female] trans people tend to be bigger, and may have certain strengths from before they started using estrogen.”

The British Journal of Sports Medicine published a study entitled, “Gender identity and sport: is the playing field level?” The study examined the gender identity issues in competitive sports, specifically the policies on transsexual participation in sports, issues faced by the International Olympic Committees, “as they strive to provide a safe environment in which female athletes can compete fairly and equitably.”

The study noted:

The decision to categorically restrict male to female transsexual athletes from competing in a given sport as females rests on two critical assumptions. The first is that most people exposed to testosterone from puberty onward will develop physical and/or physiological attributes that contribute to a distinct performance advantage over most women. Although the performance boundaries between male and female athletes have narrowed in the past several decades, there are distinct gender differences that exist on average. The second assumption needed to justify restricting male to female transsexual participation in female events is that these attributes can withstand the hormonal manipulation of sex reassignment, thereby giving the male to female transsexual athlete an unfair competitive advantage. Certainly, there are some effects of testosterone that cannot be reversed, including (most notably) its effect on postpubertal height in men. Men are on average taller than women, with the pubertal growth spurt accounting for most of the gender difference.

The International Olympic Committee contends in their guidelines that, “The overriding sporting objective is and remains the guarantee of fair competition. Restrictions on participation are appropriate to the extent that they are necessary and proportionate to the achievement of that objective.”

To guarantee “fair competition,” the following guidelines apply:

Those who transition from female to male are eligible to compete in the male category without restriction.

Those who transition from male to female are eligible to compete in the female category under the following conditions:

The athlete has declared that her gender identity is female. The declaration cannot be changed, for sporting purposes, for a minimum of four years.

The athlete must demonstrate that her total testosterone level in serum has been below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to her first competition (with the requirement for any longer period to be based on a confidential case-by-case evaluation, considering whether or not 12 months is a sufficient length of time to minimize any advantage in women’s competition).

The athlete’s total testosterone level in serum must remain below 10 nmol/L throughout the period of desired eligibility to compete in the female category.

Compliance with these conditions may be monitored by testing. In the event of non-compliance, the athlete’s eligibility for female competition will be suspended for 12 months.

That’s really fair now, isn’t it? Female to male transgender individuals can compete without restriction, while male to female transgender individuals can only compete if agreeing to their guidelines. When restrictions have to be set, guidelines altered that disparage one “transformation” over another, “fair” doesn’t even come close. The reason the restrictions have to be in place is the difference in men and women, which consists in the DNA, not just what sexual organs are present.

There are hardly words to describe all of this hullaballoo over mentally ill individuals competing in competitive sports. Not only have many of the citizens of the United States gone bat guano crazy, it appears many citizens of other nations have as well. One could say there has been a new age added to complement the Bronze, Dark and Renaissance Ages of the world — the Lunacy Age.

So, for many who want to watch the women’s Olympic Games, there is no “strict” women’s competition; it’s the same with men’s events. Maybe, instead of two separate categories, the committee should combine the events and mix the genders without all the bruhaha. Their argument against that suggestion would amount to “fairness” in competition. Hello? Isn’t unfairness going to be experienced now?

Gone are the days of watching graceful females in Olympic events and watching the almost unbelievable feats accomplished by men. Now, in watching these events, who knows whether you’ll be watching a “Bruce Jenner” or a mentally ill “Bruce Jenner” in drag in any event. Doesn’t it negate the entire point of separate male and female events? And, how is the committee going to prove a male changing to a female is “for sporting purposes only” if he is willing to suffer through the required time period to compete to win a medal he might not otherwise have won as a male? The opposite would not necessarily be true since the advantage would clearly rest with males competing as females.

And, more importantly, young boys and girls who often idolize sports figures may be quite confused to find out they identify with a “transgender” when they identify as the sex God gave them. This opens an entire can of worms that should remain sealed. It appears another year of boycotting the Olympic Games in this household will be in order.
