Less than two weeks after Steve Stephens murdered Robert Godwin while streaming on Facebook Live, a 24-year-old Thai man used the streaming service to record the murder of his infant daughter and then kill himself.

On Monday, Wuttisan Wongtalay was seen on a rooftop of a building that had been abandoned in the town of Phuket, and tying a rope around his little girl’s neck.  He then dropped the infant.

Jiranuch “Bew” Trirat, 21, called police at 6:30pm and reported that her boyfriend, Wongtalay, 20, had posted the video on his Facebook page.

“The video clip, which is about four minutes long, was posted at 5:45pm yesterday,” said Lt Col Sanit Nookhong to Thalang Police.

“In the video, Wuttisan shows a bottle of liquid, which we later confirmed was kratom drink. He gives the girl, Beta, a drink and has a drink too. After that, he ties a rope around the girl’s neck and lowers her down.

“You can hear the girl crying and finally the crying stops. Then he pulls her up onto the roof top and unties the rope from her neck,” he said.

There was no video captured of the man committing suicide.  However, according to Lt. Jullaus Suvannin, the police officer in charge of the case, viewers saw the lifeless body lying next to the deceased child.

Apparently, two videos were uploaded by Wongtalay before killing himself.  The first had obtained 112,000 views and the second had reached 258,000.

“He was having paranoia about his wife leaving him and not loving him,” Jullaus told Reuters.

Police believe the Wongtalay’s actions were fueled by jealousy.

Jianuch said, “At 3am yesterday, he checked my phone and threatened to kill me.  I was very afraid and ran away from the house and left Beta with him.”

She failed to mention what he saw on the phone that enraged him.  Furthermore, one has to question a mother leaving her child in the hands of an angry, possibly jealous, man in such a situation.

“I returned home late in the afternoon and they were not there,” she added.  “I called him to bring Beta back to the house, but I could not get in touch with him. That’s when I saw the video clip and called the police.”

The video remained on Facebook for 24 hours before being removed.  The Thai government said it will not be pressing charges against Facebook, and rightfully so.

“We will not be able to press charges against Facebook, because Facebook is the service provider and they acted according to their protocol when we sent our request,” said Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy spokesman Somsak Khaosuwan.  “They cooperated very well.”

“This is the most evil clip I’ve seen in my life,” wrote Facebook user Avada Teeraponkoon. “I couldn’t stand it for more than one second.”

“How can he watch his own child stop breathing?” wrote Rujirek Polglang. “He should have just died alone.”
