When the US Army kicked out Sgt. 1st Class Charles Martland for fighting an Afghan police commander who was raping a young boy, the world learned a terrible truth about Afghanistan. Their security forces are riddled with pedophiles, especially among higher ranking officials. The practice, known a bacha bazi, is so common that the Taliban is using it to infiltrate Afghan security forces.

Over the past two years the Taliban has been using child sex slaves to entice and kill police officers. As one former police chief creepily revealed, “The Taliban are sending boys — beautiful boys, handsome boys — to penetrate checkpoints and kill, drug and poison policemen…they have figured out the biggest weakness of police forces — bacha bazi.”

The practice has been described as anaddiction worse than opium” among police commanders, who often threaten to abandon checkpoints if they don’t have access to young boys, and who sometimes get into gunfights with each other over the boys. In that environment, the boys are desperate to escape or seek revenge, making them prime candidates for recruitment by the Taliban.

The Taliban banned the practice of bacha bazi when they were running Afghanistan, and they continue to deny that they’re using child sex slaves to attack Afghan security forces. However, a survivor of one of these attacks described how his police commander’s sex slave went on a shooting spree, killing 7 officers. “He brought the Taliban inside and poked all the bodies with rifle butts to see if anyone was alive. I pretended to be dead…As his Taliban accomplices gathered our weapons and ammunition, [the boy] declared: ‘Everyone is dead’.”
