Americans Are Now Petitioning Trump To Demand FBI Release FOIA Requested Documents They Are Holding on Hillary Clinton
On Tuesday, I reported on the FBI refusing to turn over documents related to Hillary Clinton that were requested in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request because they claim there isn’t enough public interest, as if that is a legitimate reason for withholding that information.
Now, Americans aren’t taking no for an answer, as it appears the FBI is attempting to cover up Hillary Clinton’s crimes.
A new petition that was started on Wednesday by attorney Ty Clevenger of New York, the man who submitted the FOIA request, is calling on President Donald Trump to intervene in the matter and demand the FBI turn over the requested documents.

Clevenger wrote:
“On August 28, 2017, the FBI indicated that it would not release records related to the Hillary Clinton email scandal. According to the FBI, the public is not interested in the issue. According to the public, the FBI is wrong. The records should be released.”
The petition will be delivered to Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
Clevenger penned a post at his blog Lawflog.com
Mr. Clevenger said that when he made the request in a letter dated August 8, 2017, FBI manager David M. Hardy said he would have to prove one of three things in order to get the records: (1) Mrs. Clinton consented to the release of the records; (2) Mrs. Clinton is dead; or (3) my request pertains to a matter of public interest.
“I’m just stunned. This is exactly what I would have expected had Mrs. Clinton won the election, but she didn’t. It looks like the Obama Administration is still running the FBI,” Mr. Clevenger told The Washington Times.
“How can a story receive national news coverage and not be a matter of public interest? If this is the new standard, then there’s no such thing as a public interest exception,” he added.
Clevenger then responded to the letter from Mr. Hardy, “Frankly, I am stunned that I should have to explain why my request pertains to a matter of public interest. At the time of the perjury referral, Mrs. Clinton was the Democratic nominee for President of the United States, a former U.S. Secretary of State, and a former U.S. Senator. As one would expect, the referral made national news.”
“I have enclosed a copy of a July 11, 2017 Washington Post article titled ‘Congressmen ask U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate Clinton for perjury,'” he added. “One need only Google Chaffetz+referral+Clinton and a string of articles appears. Clearly, my request pertains to a matter of public interest.”
Mr. Clevenger added that he “seriously thought about writing that letter in crayon.”
“In retrospect, I should have,” he continued. “This morning I received a letter from the same FBI flunky informing me that the feds still did not consider it a matter of public interest. I wonder how much practice it took to get that stupid.”
Clevenger, like myself, doesn’t care what party public servants are a part of, he just wants the truth to be out.
“Yes, I am a Republican, but so are Ken Paxton (the Peacock Baptist) and two of the three federal judges whom I’ve hammered on DirtyRottenJudges.com,” he wrote. “In other words, I am an equal opportunity muckraker, not a blindly partisan Hillary hater. (In fact, Chelsea Clinton and I ate in the same lunch room while we were at Stanford, and I genuinely admired Chelsea’s graciousness and class). My real problem is this: I cling to the antiquated notion that powerful people should play by the same rules as the rest of us.”
“There are plenty of reprobates in both parties who seek and hold public office,” Clevenger concluded. “Equally repulsive are the blind idiots who think that people on their side of the aisle can do no wrong. Idiots such as these are a BIG part of what’s wrong with America. If you’re one of them, you need to sit down and shut up.”
Indeed!
Mr. Clevenger didn’t just start a petition at Change.org, but also submitted one to White House petition site too.
Currently, the Change.org petition has nearly 11,000 signatures at the time of the writing of this article and the White House petition has almost 32,000, including mine.
Once a petition at the White House site reaches 100,000, the president must address that petition.
David Codrea writes of Trump’s appointed head of the FBI Christopher Wray:
The fact that careerists with the FBI still feel secure enough under the Trump administration to keep swamp levels rising should trouble all who voted for the president because they believe in the agenda he articulated while campaigning. Of particular concern to gun owner rights advocates:
- While his candidacy was being considered, FBI Director Christopher Wray used the same language as confirmed gun-grabber Sen. Richard Blumenthal about using “common sense … legislation” to combat “gun violence.”
- The FBI recently admitted that it screened all Americans seeking to lawfully purchase a firearm against the Terrorist Screening Database (“TSDB”) upon submission of the ATF Form 4473” (despite no authorization).
Seeing that Wray reports to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has enjoyed strong gun owner support throughout his political career, and that Sessions reports to Donald Trump, who would be back to developing properties if not for gun owners, Hardy’s snotty dismissal of legitimate core constituency concerns should not be allowed to stand.
Frankly, if President Trump were serious about his promise to the American people, this petition would not even be necessary.
As head of the Executive Branch, President Trump should demand the release of the documents requested.
An executive order should do the trick, if he is serious about transparency.
After all, it was candidate Trump who promised to have his Attorney General appoint a special investigator and prosecutor to look into Clinton. Yep, I’m going to continue to remind people of this because we all know Democrats are ramping up to put Clinton up for round two in the future.

Then again, many of us saw a lack of conviction with that promise when he immediately back-peddled after being elected.
