Recently, someone had sent me an article titled, “Are Christians Supposed to Fight?” At first, I was a bit offended and thought of the possibilities of receiving this from someone who did not know his left hand from his right.

After a couple minutes, I began to ponder on the natural and the spiritual, and then the spiritual and then the natural and where the two may meet (In the end, the natural is a manifestation of the spiritual -Blessings, cursings, sowing, reaping – Galatians 6:7), that is when it comes to the reality and tangibility of who we are as a people under God.

And what came to me after pondering a bit, was the Word of God with such scripture as Malachi 4:3 “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.”

Or what of Psalm 101:8

“I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.”

Romans 12:21:

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Or what of Ephesians 6:11-17 (Spiritual Amour)?

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

(Natural armor) Luke 22:36, “Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Our forefathers established the 2nd Amendment)

I can hear someone say, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6).

Yes, but what does 1 Timothy 6:12 have to say, “Fight the good fight of faith…”

We also see that on the other side of this is holding to a good scriptural balance that “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:14-26).

We can literally go through the whole of the Bible in putting the Old Testament up in balance to the New Testament when it comes to these Scriptures.

I ask, how is the Lord’s will to be done on this earth as it is in Heaven (Law, Judgment, Righteousness and Peace; Isaiah 51:4)? It’s by the Church, in the present, taking its rightful place as it did in the days of our founding?

Let’s go to the natural now to see how the Lord used our forefathers in establishing the greatest nation that ever has been in the history of the world, America (Psalm 33:12).

Let’s go to our his-story: In Yorktown, Virginia, where the British were defeated by our forefathers in throwing off a tyrant that would not be ruled by God, established the Hanover association of volunteers on June 4, 1774 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

They resolved ‘that in the event of Great Britain attempting to force unjust laws upon us by strength of arms, our cause we leave to Heaven and our rifles.’

When reading the Declaration of Independence, you will find that ¾ of that document teach us as to what our forefathers would not tolerate (Psalm 97:10).

Thomas Jefferson, who was considered to be the main Architect to the Declaration, said of himself:

“To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense he wished anyone to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others; ascribing to himself every human excellence; and believing he never claimed any other.”

Roger Sherman, Architect and Signer of The Declaration of Independence said:

“Sad will be the day when the American people forget their traditions and their history, and no longer remember that the country they love, the institutions they cherish, and the freedom they hope to preserve, were born from the throes of armed resistance to tyranny, and nursed in the rugged arms of fearless men.”

What of those unsung heroes of the War of Independence known as the Black Robed Regiment?

“The ministers of the Revolution were, like their Puritan predecessors, bold and fearless in the cause of their country. No class of men contributed more to carry forward the Revolution and to achieve our independence than did the ministers. … [B]y their prayers, patriotic sermons, and services [they] rendered the highest assistance to the civil government, the army, and the country.” – Historian B. F. Morris, 1864

In conclusion: Today’s tyrants would have you believe that you are to fight for them, not against them.

Let me remind you that there is no law given to any man to do the wrong things. Therefore, we must take the time and read the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15) and our founding documents so we can fully understand, in balance, what it is that we are now obliged to do in following their examples (Hebrews 13:7).
