Do We Know What Signs are on Justice Sotomayor’s Lawn?
“Dissent is the highest form of patriotism”
Do we know what signs are on Justice Sotomayor’s lawn or Justice Kagan’s lawn? Obviously not.
And yet after spending a year on a political witch hunt targeting Justice Clarence Thomas, the media discovered in a ‘scoop’ that there had been an American flag hung upside down at Justice Alito’s house.
Hanging flags upside down as a political protest had been embraced by liberals under Bush alongside all the “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” bumper stickers. But now dissent is a “threat to democracy”.

Justice Alito, who shouldn’t have even been answering questions about this, said his wife hung it up. No liberal justice would ever be interrogated about his or her spouse’s political views, but first Justice Thomas and now Justice Alito have been attacked using their spouses.
And the whole ritual is despicable and cynical. We know what the political views of most of the justices on the court are. If those views are disqualifying, they’re disqualifying for everyone including for Justice Sotomayor.
But the Left contends that disagreeing with their views is what’s truly disqualifying.
Either “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” or it’s a “threat to democracy”. The only way you can have both is if you accept the Left’s position that it is a totalitarian system that alone holds the right to rule.
