Strong Second Amendment Supporter Enters Arkansas Gubernatorial Race

Second Amendment supporter and gun rights activist Jan Morgan has thrown her hat in the Arkansas gubernatorial race for the party’s nomination against Republican Asa Hutchinson.

Morgan took to the national stage in 2014 when she declared her gun range in Hot Springs, Arkansas, aptly titled The Gun Cave Indoor Shooting Range, to be a “Muslim Free Zone.”

In a video announcing her campaign and linking to her site at Jan Morgan for Governor, Morgan talks about some of the issues she believes is important to the people of Arkansas.

It’s true, and I’ll go one step further and say what our good friend Daniel Greenfield wrote and that is “An armed society spends more time stopping evil than contemplating it.”

“Before we can seize on the opportunities for the future, we must recognize our failures of the past and present,” Morgan said. “The pathway to recovery begins right here in our state capitol, not because our government is the solution to our problems, but because our government is the source of our problems.

“First, we must identify, expose and replace politicians who ran as Republicans to get elected; then once in office, began to legislate like Democrats to please a progressive governor and his big corporate donors,” she added.

Among some of the things she addressed was, as expected, rights of gun owners.

Guns.com reports:

“An armed society is a polite society,” said Morgan, contending that Arkansas recognizes permitless carry as part of the state constitution and any assertions made by Hutchinson to the opposite are “egregious.”

“He is wrong,” she says. “I will make it right.”

The two figures have dickered back and forth over the issue of carry rights in the state in recent months, with Morgan, who has nearly a quarter-million followers on social media, repeatedly calling out Hutchinson on constitutional carry in Arkansas. While he has not addressed the gun range owner and firearms instructor publicly, the state’s chief executive recently directed the Arkansas State Police that he considers open carry the law of the land, a move that drew admonishment from Morgan.

Hutchinson has long had the support of the National Rifle Association, spearheading the group’s school security task force in the wake of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut; receiving the organization’s “A” rating for governor and addressing the body’s annual meetings. Last year he signed HB 1249, an NRA-backed bill — which Morgan opposed in part– that brought a new series of enhanced carry permits to Arkansas.

Morgan also spoke about issues of education, seemingly advancing more public school “education,” referencing the high cost of healthcare, jobs and taxation.

In each of those, I think the only one I see the only government authority is in taxation, and even that is quite limited, but they all make great talking points.

I recognize Ms. Morgan is conservative leaning for sure, but I also recognize that the Bible warns us about women leading, and no, I’m not sexist, I just recognize roles.

O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray And confuse the direction of your paths. – Isaiah 3:12

Is this not America today?  We were a land that used to esteem highly our women in their God-given roles as wives and mothers.  Their husbands were known by everyone because of their wives (Proverbs 31:23).  Their children rose up and called them blessed (Proverbs 31:28) and they were given the fruit of the work of their hands (Proverbs 31:28).  They were industrious (Proverbs 31:16-22), yes, but with the center of their energy in the home (Titus 2:4) and serving and loving their husbands and children (Titus 2:3) that together they might fulfill the dominion mandate and carry on as our forefathers did who arrived here hundreds of years ago and penned the reason they came to America in the first place.

“Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic; for our better ordering, and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony; unto which we promise all due submission and obedience.”

Then, when their children were grown, they put their energy into teaching younger women the things they had learned and helped them become godly wives and mothers (Titus 2:3).

But we know better now, don’t we?

Men used to be men, but they have become effeminate.  They fail to stand for the truth and bring justice.  Instead, in some cases, they are literally trying to turn themselves into women!  Some have no uncompromising principles and have demonstrated they will sell themselves and the people out for a “compromise” to “get things done,” even if those things are unlawful.

Before anyone points to Deborah or Miriam to rebuke me, know what you are talking about.  Miriam led women in singing praises, not men.  Deborah was used as a judge in Israel because the men were not doing their job, but even then when she confronted the king, she would not usurp his authority as king, but simply went along with him while he fulfilled his task.

In either case, I can commend Ms. Morgan on running a successful business, standing up for the rights of the people and standing against Islamists and terror organizations like CAIR when they attempted to sue her for not allowing Muslims at her shooting range and calling out Arkansas representatives who are acting unlawfully.  In those areas, I can fully give her my support.
