Trump Supporters Put GOP on Notice

There is no doubt that the Republican establishment are hell bent on stopping Donald Trump from becoming the GOP nominee. We have seen then gather to talk about how they can stop Trump and what’s most interesting is how many of the establishment boys are now backing Senator Ted Cruz, which isn’t that surprising. Now, Republicans who are supporting Trump are putting the party on notice that they will walk from the party if the establishment power brokers attempt to steal the nomination.

According to a petition, which has garnered nearly 23,000 signatures as of the writing of this article, people are pledging to no longer be affiliated with the Republican Party should there be indication that the establishment is in any way attempting to steal the nomination from Trump, should he win in the primaries.

“Let it be understood that if Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Mitt Romney and the Republican Party power brokers steal the Republican nomination from Donald Trump at the convention — when Trump is the clear leader — we will walk out of the Republican party and not support its nominee,” the petition reads.

“Trump’s support transcends his personality and is a movement that if the Republican Party was open, would welcome and leverage to the country’s advantage, instead of impeding, obstructing and destroying,” the petition adds. “Further, we will not return to the Republican Party but will go about the task of consolidating Trump’s political gains and reform the corrupt political system that cares more about itself than the interest of the United States. Karl Rove and company, never ones to lack hubris, are very mistaken if they think that humpty dumpty (the Republican Party) can be put back together. We are prepared for the next stage of this battle, engaging our foes from George Patton’s maxim, “Never let the enemy pick the battle site.”

That was not all. A short letter addressed to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus echoes the same thing:

WE WILL PERMANENTLY WALK AWAY FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IF DONALD TRUMP IS SABOTAGED AT THE CONVENTION IN CLEVELAND, OHIO.
Preventing Trump from a nomination which he is earning is the straw that will break the Republican camel’s back. We will not return to the Republican Party but will go about the task of consolidating Trump’s political gains and reform the corrupt political system that cares more about itself than the interest of the United States.

I think among all of the comments I read, Doug Lambert of Gilford, New Hampshire sums up the irony in all of this.

“After making Trump promise to stay in the GOP, it is absolutely wrong to then kick him off the ballot if a majority of primary participants want him as the nominee,” he wrote.

I tend to agree with that sentiment. Remember though, I have no horse in this race, as I don’t support any of the candidates from the two parties. However, just remember that this is the same GOP that did this in 2012 to eliminate delegates from presidential candidate Ron Paul.

And you thought the DNC was the only ones who acted godless…

Pay close attention to those rules changes that were scripted in order to not only overcome a challenge by Ron Paul to the “coronation” of two-time loser Mitt Romney, but was to ensure that no matter what the voters determined or how many delegates someone won, they could be changed and establishment supporting delegates take their place.

One thing is for sure. We are going to see the establishment attempt to cheat, steal and engage in all sort of shenanigans between now and the convention. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride!
