Trump Threatens to Support 2018 Republican Challengers of Reps if They Vote against RINOCare
Many constitutional and conservative Republicans have come out against the American Health Care Act that has been pushed by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and his team of establishment Republicans. Now, according to a report, sources are saying that President Donald Trump is threatening to support 2018 primary challengers of Republicans who vote against RINOCare.
The Washington Examiner reports:
Sources told the Washington Examiner that Trump made that threat in a White House meeting on Tuesday with House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., and other members of the House GOP whip team that helps line up votes.
Trump’s threat is one that could resonate. Most of the Republicans who oppose the GOP’s American Health Care Act represent ruby red districts that strongly support Trump and his agenda.
Therefore, they could be the most susceptible to a midterm primary challenge, especially if Trump tells those voters that their member of Congress is blocking him from fulfilling his promise to repeal President Obama‘s healthcare law.
“The president will respond as circumstances dictate,” a House Republican said Friday, on condition of anonymity in order to discuss internal strategy. “He has unique capacities; I wouldn’t want to be the one he tests them out on.”
“Trump said he will have football-stadium events in states where he won by 10-12 points and he is going to dare people to vote against him,” CNN reported.
Trump tweeted on Thursday, “Despite what you hear in the press, healthcare is coming along great. We are talking to many groups and it will end in a beautiful picture!”

One has to question after looking at the bill whether it is a lawful, constitutional picture. After all, that is the real question, isn’t it?
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has put forth his own bill concerning Obamacare that is similar to Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) legislation. As the founding member of the 29-member House Freedom Caucus, which opposes RINOCare, Jordan told CNN on Thursday, the House conservatives, “want to help the President do what we told the voters we were going to do. We told them we would repeal Obamacare.”
“This bill that the House leadership has brought forward is not that,” Jordan said. “It says we’re going to repeal Obamacare, but we’re going to keep Medicaid expansion and we’re going to extend it. It says we’re going to repeal Obamacare, but we’re going to keep some of the tax increases. That’s not what we told the voters we were going to do. Let’s repeal it, let’s repeal it all.”
“Let’s do the right thing and let’s put together the right kind of legislation that accomplishes what we all told the voters we were going to do,” he added.
Well, good. I’m glad at least someone remembers something the people sent these guys there to do and that is to fully repeal Obamacare. I don’t recall the people asking for a replacement, ever! However, the leaders of the Republican Party have tried their best to force that down our throats from Mitt Romney to Paul Ryan.
It was also reported that Trump met with the Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, Tea Party Patriots, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity this week and chastised them for calling the bill “ObamaCare Lite” and warned that they “are helping the other side.”
Trump even believes that Senator Rand Paul will eventually come around and get on board. I won’t hold my breath on that.
