“The course of this world away from God; therefore I must go against the current of this world if I am a child of God.”

It has been said that “the course of this world away from God; therefore I must go against the current of this world if I am a child of God,” and yet, the problem that I see with this is that a majority of those who you would expect to be the worldings are, in fact, the professed Christians in America today.  Nothing new here, I’ll explain in a moment.

Many of these people profess to belong to Christ and yet, somehow or another, their conversation is not that of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:27).  They know nothing of the conquering (Romans 8:37), nothing of the overcoming (1 John 5:4), and nothing of the fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).  This is all foreign to them because they are foreign to the Word of God.  In a nutshell, they are worldlings.  Friends, there is no doubt that there are two different languages.

One voice is of the Lord and only those that have been born anew of the Spirit of God can hear (Matthew 11:15), and the other voice is the voice of the world, which they speak and also can hear.

“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” -1 John 4:5

Some will say, “I am a realist!” and I would reply that your reason is an enemy to real faith and that Scripture proclaims that we are to “walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).”  Yet, you walk in unbelief and by your carnal sight!  This counters Scripture.  These people claim to be from above yet, they act and talk like there are from beneath.

They give the hopeless message in their ignorance and apathy doing their best to indoctrinate the people, that is to those who will listen to them.  What’s worse is that they have deceived themselves into believing that they are Christians (1 Corinthians 15:17).

So, it should come as no surprise that these are Christians in theory only and worldlings when it comes their practice.

Let’s go to that of Caleb and Joshua when bringing back to the children of Israel the good report and see how they responded.

And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Numbers 13:25-33

And in Numbers 14:1-10

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

But all the congregation bade stone them with stones.

I get to deal with these sorts of people all day long.

In conclusion: Scripture tells us very clearly:

Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD. Numbers 32:11-12

There is a big difference. Make distinction!
