Veteran & Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard On Assange Arrest: The Message Is Clear – Try To Take Our Power & You’ll Pay A High Price

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has spoken out very clearly on the arrest of co-founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange this week.  In a message to her followers on Twitter, Gabbard said that when it came to Assange’s arrest, the message is clear:  “To journalists and all Americans, if you try to take away our power, you will pay a high price.”

Gabbard tweeted out the message along with an appearance she had on MSNBC with crazed lunatic talking head Chris Matthews on Thursday.

She has referred to the US government’s plans to have Assange extradited to the US a “blow to transparency and a blow to a free press.

“This is a threat to journalists,” she told Matthews, “but it’s also something that threatens every American, because the message that we are getting, that the American people are getting is: Be quiet, toe the line, otherwise there will be consequences.”

In retaliation to the arrest of Assange, Wikileaks has leveled a huge document dump.

Previously, President Donald Trump told supporters, “I love Wikileaks,” but when asked about the arrest of Assange on Thursday, Trump told reporters, “I know nothing about WikiLeaks.  It’s not my thing.”

And people don’t think Trump is a politician…

It’s possible that Trump changed his tune when Assange tweeted, “The Trump administration’s subservience to Saudi Arabia’s military adventurism in Yemen has led to 8x the drone assassination rate of Obama. Most killed are civilians. Obama, in turn, had 10x the drone kills of Bush.”

I guess it is true that Everyone loves WikiLeaks when they’re publishing information about those that they politically oppose.  It’s a different story when they publish information about you.

Former Texas congressman Ron Paul noted:

There is a word for this sudden about-face on Wikileaks and the transparency it provides us into the operations of the prominent and powerful: hypocrisy.

The Trump Administration’s declaration of war on whistleblowers and Wikileaks is one of the greatest disappointments in these first 100 days. Donald Trump rode into the White House with promises that he would “drain the swamp,” meaning that he would overturn the apple carts of Washington’s vested interests. By unleashing those same vested interests on those who hold them in check – the whistleblowers and those who publish their revelations – he has turned his back on those who elected him.

Julian Assange, along with the whistleblowers who reveal to us the evil that is being done in our name, are heroes. They deserve our respect and admiration, not a prison cell. If we allow this president to declare war on those who tell the truth, we have only ourselves to blame.

He was referencing Mike Pompeo’s attacks on Wikileaks in which he distorted what Wikileaks actually is and what they are about.  Of course, Assange was quick to correct Pompeo’s propaganda.

As I mentioned on Saturday in referencing Matt Agorist’s earlier article about the book Assange was carrying when he was arrested this week, Assange seeks to stop a lot of the wars by publishing the information to keep governments in check.

Interestingly enough, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard took a beating from Democrats and Republicans after she actually visited Syria and questioned the entire narrative that was being fed to the American people by the state-controlled media and the Obama and Trump administrations about so-called “moderate rebels” being there engaged in fighting.

She was also skeptical that Assad had used chemical weapons against his own people and even the Trump administration admitted they had no evidence that he had used such weapons even though they bombed Syria twice.

I disagree with Rep. Gabbard on a ton of her issues that I believe are completely unconstitutional, but on the issue in Syria and the statement that the arrest and indictment against Assange is a blow to a free press, I do believe she is right on point.
