Speaking of our forefathers, and whom it was that they were, because, as you know, they were labeled “deists” by the revisionists of the day.

Deism is the belief that God exists but just doesn’t interpose on their behalf.

In other words, the revisionists would have you believe that God retreated from the universe and is no longer involved with His Creation.  Friends, this clearly runs against Scripture itself.

1 Timothy 5:8 tells us, “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

The WORD TELLS US that He is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrew 12:2).

He has called Himself our Father.

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. -2 Corinthians 6: 18

He has provided ALL things unto us.

Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day… -Exodus 16:4

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. -Deuteronomy 29:5

He protects us: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17).

Friends, in Matthew 10:29, the Bible clearly teaches us that His eye is upon the sparrow and that they will not fall to the ground without His notice.  In Matthew 10:31, it tells us
that “ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

Friends, He is the giver to all life and breath, and ALL things (Acts 17:25).

So let me be clear, our forefathers were not deists, but I can tell you exactly who they were by what it is that they established (Matthew 7:16-20).

3 Deists? Evidence does not support that they were.

Benjamin Franklin stated:

“I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth — that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without [H]is notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without [H]is aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that “except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without [H]is concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall be become a reproach and a bye word down to future age. And what is worse, mankind may hereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human Wisdom, and leave it to chance, war, and conquest.

I therefore beg leave to move — that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the Clergy of this City be requested to officiate in that service.”
