Actor James Woods Calls Out Obama and Media for Ignoring Crime Committed Against Christians

James Woods has always been one of my favorite actors and over the past couple of years, his outspokenness over the issue of several issues has also earned my respect. Following the Oregon shooting, Woods blasted the Obama administration and the media for not really pointing out that it was a crime that was aimed at the followers of Jesus Christ.

After Chris Harper Mercer killed nine people and wounded seven last Thursday, reportedly singling out those who were Christians for execution, Woods took to Twitter to expose the utter hypocrisy of the administration and the media.

“NY Times writes a front page story about a hate massacre targeting Christians without using the word ‘Christians,'” Woods tweeted.
He then added, “If it is determined that the Oregon shooter targeted Christians specifically, that’s the last we will hear of it on MSM [mainstream media].”

Woods then tweeted about Obama’s expected reaction to the murders, and he wasn’t far off. “Now that it is recognized that the terrible Oregon tragedy was an assault on Christians, will the President still sing Amazing Grace there?” Finally Woods tweeted a picture of the president with the comment: “Hate crime massacre of Christians finally silences Obama. #LiberalLaryngitis.”

Second Century Church Father Tertullian is famous for having said, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” Indeed, throughout history Christians have been slaughtered for their faith, and those death are precious in the sight of the Lord (Psalm 116:15).

Woods not only blasted Obama and the media, but it seems he was very touched by the courage and conviction of those who gave their lives, sealing their testimony of the risen Christ as the Son of God with their own blood.

Indeed, there was courage of conviction and I’m sure we will hear more of some of their last moments, but for Woods to have called it unimaginable seems to have caused him to reflect on what kind of power would have given such conviction. It’s simple, this is what the grace of God does. It changes men and empowers them to stand bold in the face of death. If you don’t believe me, just look at each of the men of God from the past and throughout the Scriptures (cf. Hebrews 11).

Woods was pretty close in how he pointed out how Obama would ignore how the Christian faith was what was attacked. When three Muslims were gunned down in Chapel Hill, North Carolina earlier this year, Obama made it a point to say that people should not be targeted for their faith. Yet. when triple that number are murdered in cold blood for the very reason that they are Christians, he is silent on the issue of true faith, and instead wants to seek to disarm the people.

My hope is that not only James Woods was touched by these Christians’ testimony, but that many others are impacted and that the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ continues to go forward in our land, saving sinners and reconciling them to their Creator!
