As Americans Are Fleeced for Billions for Ukraine, Ukraine Parliament Gives Themselves 70% Raise

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian soldiers on the front line had their pay reduced.

Since the war in Ukraine began in February, Biden authorized $1.3 billion followed by an additional $13.6 billion. This original $15 billion of your tax dollars that got dumped into Ukraine to arm literal Nazis in the region was offensive enough but it was just the tip of the iceberg. In May, the House passed yet another massive spending bill, authorizing another $40 billion in your tax dollars to arm Nazis and keep the country at war. And they show no signs of slowing down.

Since then, various packages of cash and weapons of mass destruction, ranging from just a few hundred million to a billion, have flowed into the arms of welcoming Ukrainian politicians and military leaders.

Last week, the Pentagon announced that yet another $775 million would be sent to Ukraine. As Antiwar.com reported, this was the eighteenth weapons package to Ukraine in six months. But that wasn’t enough, apparently.

This week, U.S. officials told The Associated Press that yet another windfall of cash was set to be handed over to Ukraine. This time, it is in the form of roughly $3 billion in aid to train and equip Ukrainian forces to fight for years to come, according to U.S. officials — signaling to Americans that the US wants this war to go on as long as it can.

“Vladimir Putin seems to believe that Russia can win the long game, outlasting the Ukrainians in their will to fight and the international community’s will to continue to support Ukraine,” Colin Kahl, undersecretary of defense for policy, said at a press briefing. “This USAI package is a tangible demonstration that this is yet another Russian miscalculation.”

As Defense News.com reported, the most recent $3 billion package, which marks the single largest tranche since Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine six months ago, includes six more of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems with additional ammunition. Last month, the U.S. committed to two of the systems, developed by Norway’s Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace as well as American company Raytheon Technologies.

As your taxpayer dollars are laundered with Ukrainian lives, weapons companies and politicians are rolling in dough. As for where the weapons are ending up, that’s left to be determined. Earlier this month, CBS news put out a documentary in which it stated that the majority of shipments of weapons to Ukraine from the US had been going missing.

In their documentary, CBS interviewed the founder of pro-Ukraine nonprofit Blue-Yellow, Jonas Ohman, who told the mainstream outlet that roughly 70% of all the weapons coming to Ukraine — were not making it to the front lines.

Immediately after releasing the documentary, CBS edited that part out, retracting Ohman’s statement, after Ukrainian officials expressed their outrage. CBS would go on to claim that Ohman’s numbers were out of date and most of the weapons and money are now making it to the front lines.

“We are updating our documentary to reflect this new information and air at a later date,” CBS said.

While CBS caved to outside pressure, many on the ground in Ukraine aren’t being so cowardly.

“The weapons are stolen, the humanitarian aid is stolen, and we have no idea where the billions sent to this country have gone,” a Ukrainian war veteran, identified only as “Ivan,” told the Grayzone.

In a video sent via Facebook messenger in July, Ivan* can be seen standing next to his car, an early 2010s model Mitsubishi SUV. Smoke is pouring out of the rear window. Ivan laughs and pans his phone’s camera across the length of the vehicle, pointing out bullet holes. “The turbocharger died in my car,” he said, panning his phone toward the front of the vehicle. “My commander says I should pay to repair it myself. So to use my own car in the war, I need to buy a new turbocharger with my own money.”

Ivan flipped the camera toward his face. “Well, you f**king motherf**ker members of parliament, I hope you f**k each other. Devils. I wish you were in our place,” he said.

Ivan’s disdain for his own parliament is well founded and based in the fact that they recently gave themselves a 70% raise — while reducing the pay of soldiers.

After banning their political rivals, the largely pro-war party in Ukraine — who call themselves the “People’s Deputies of Ukraine” — are making sure they don’t lose any of those fat bags of cash stolen from US taxpayers.

Their paychecks went from 28,800 to 49,600 hryvnia and will ultimately be financed from the funds received from foreign partners to Ukraine — like you and me.

It is important to point out that this is all happening as tens of millions of Americans are unable to pay their electricity bills, inflation is at record levels, and the United States teeters on the precipice of the next great depression.

Adding to the insidious nature of the U.S. desire to prolong this conflict with your tax money is the fact that this conflict could’ve been over just weeks after it began.

Just a few weeks into the war, Russia offered concessions as spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Moscow will end the invasion immediately if Ukraine amends its constitution to ensure it stays neutral and doesn’t join NATO, it acknowledges Crimea as Russian territory, and recognizes the separatist republics of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.

Ukraine would have kept its independence and thousands of lives would have been spared. But no.

Since then, the United States has recommended that Ukraine not accept a peace deal and instead continue to allow their people to be used as cannon fodder while US taxpayers are fleeced for billions to fight a proxy war with Russia.

Disgusting indeed.
