DNC Staffer in Charge of Voter Expansion Data Murdered in Capital
Seth Rich was a 27-year-old Democratic National Committee staff member who was in charge of voter expansion data. He was found murdered on Sunday and police have no idea who did it.
The Washington Post reports:
Seth Rich made such an impression as a teenage intern in Nebraska that a U.S. Senate campaign hired him before he completed high school. A young man who dreamed politics, he headed to Capitol Hill after college.
Early Sunday morning, the 27-year-old was shot to death in a crime that has shaken not only his family, colleagues and friends, but also many in his Bloomingdale neighborhood of Northwest. Police said they have no suspects, witnesses or motive, though they are looking at whether Rich could have been slain in an attempted robbery.
“He wanted to make a difference,” Joel Rich said of the younger of his two sons. “Politics was in his blood.” He called his son’s killing “a waste.”
The shooting took place around 4am when Rich was walking home and shot down. He was shot several times, including once in the back.
Rich was from a prominent Jewish family.
DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said, “Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans.”
“He was a joy to have as a member of our team, and his talents, intelligence and enthusiasm will be deeply missed by many friends, colleagues and co-workers who worked by his side in service to the highest ideals of our democracy,” she added.
Rich graduated in 2011. Two years later, after being hired by a national polling company, he move to DC where he worked on the development of computer software which allows people to input their names and a map will show them where their polling place is located. The program was developed with data pulled from every voter precinct in the country.
One has to question the time of Rich’s murder. Here is a DNC staffer in charge of voter expansion data and yet, he is murdered in the middle of the night, just months before the election?
If you think these are inappropriate questions, consider the 2008 death of Republican Michael Connell, who was killed in a plane crash. Connell was an IT specialist who understood completely how electronic voting machines functioned, something that Clinton Eugene Curtis could easily be manipulated.
