Patrick Farr, the father of a soldier who was killed in Iraq by an Iranian-made bomb, thinks that a nuclear deal with Iran spells disaster for peace, and he’s concerned that the Obama administration doesn’t care.

“[A] pickup pulled up in front of the house and had a soldier in it,” Patrick Farr recounted in the video produced by Veterans Against the Deal, a group of Iraq war veterans. “I knew what he was about to tell me, and I asked him if he could just tell me that my son had been wounded. But he said he couldn’t do that. He’d been killed that morning. And my whole world changed.”

Veterans Against the Deal, a 501c(4), hopes to persuade members of Congress into the opposition camp. According to people like Farr, the inevitable result of a nuclear deal with Iran is more terror and violence, which serves to break Obama’s framing of the issue, namely that the pro-deal camp will produce peace and the anti-deal camp will just result in additional conflict.

Obama thinks that Iran will allocate most of the funds to bolster its stagnant economy when sanctions are dropped. In the past, he argued that the nuclear deal is separate from Iran’s mischief in the region, but recently updated his position and hopes that the deal with prompt some level of behavior modification.

“The Iranian nuclear deal will allow Iran to have their funding back,” Farr stated. “They will be able to continue to fund terrorism. The administration must not really care about what Iran has done on the terrorism front to kill American soldiers. They’ve just completely forgotten.”

Executive Director of Veterans Against the Deal Michael Pregent wants to make sure that no one forgets.

“Opposition to this dangerous deal doesn’t just come from soldiers with direct experience of Iranian terrorism — it also comes from bereaved families who live forever with the anguish and loss caused by Iranian terror, and who wish to prevent others from experiencing what they have to live with every day,” Pregent said in a statement.

President Barack Obama doesn’t rank very highly in the eyes of the American people as far as handling of Iran is concerned. According to a recent Gallup poll conducted in August, only a third of Americans approve of Obama on Iran, and a slight majority, 55 percent, disapprove. Veterans Against the Deal released the video on Friday and plans to display the ad in districts of members of Congress who haven’t yet staked out a position on the deal.
