Former Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych: “US Planned Protests, Staged a Coup to Seize Power”

Why wouldn’t the Obama administration leave Ukraine alone? Plain and simple, it want to seize power there. Even though those are my thoughts, more importantly, they are the words of former Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych.

TASS reports, “Former Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych, believes that the developments on Kiev’s Independence Square (Maidan) in 2014 were planned in advance, while their results did not depend on government decisions.”

“I signed the protocol (an Agreement on the Settlement of Political Crisis in Ukraine – TASS). However, sometime later I realized that no matter what protocol we signed, the scenario to seize the power and stage a coup was planned and imminent. That is, it actually did not depend on our actions,” the former president said in an interview.

Yanukovych blamed Vice-President Joe Biden and US representatives for not only planning the protests that developed in Ukraine, but also orchestrating them.

“We were constantly in touch with Biden, I had frequent telephone conversations with him. However, the fact is that Mr. Biden said one thing, while something entirely different was done in Ukraine,” he said. “The US Ambassador to Ukraine constantly received representatives of the ‘Maidan’ at the embassy. We knew that very well, we kept a close watch on this. One got the impression that the whole process was orchestrated by the headquarters in the US Embassy.”

The former president says that US representatives’ involvement were inadmissible.

“Tell me, will it be acceptable in any other country, if Ukraine’s ambassador comes to the protesters in Ferguson, distributes cakes there and accuses the US police. I believe this is inadmissible in any country. Why then was there such an attitude towards Ukraine?”

Ukraine erupted in 2014 in a conflict and protests. Western nations, including the US, were behind the chaos that developed in Ukraine.

Congress sought to send $1 billion, in clear violation of the Constitution, to Ukraine to “end the conflict,” which our own government provoked and invested time and money in.

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul addressed the situation with a level head asking, “Why are people protesting in eastern Ukraine? Because they do not believe the government that came to power after the US-backed uprising in February is legitimate. They do not recognize the authority of an unelected president and prime minister. The US sees this as a Russian-sponsored destabilization effort, but is it so hard to understand that the people in Ukraine may be annoyed with the US and EU for their involvement in regime change in their country? Would we be so willing to accept an unelected government in Washington put in place with the backing of the Chinese and Iranians?”

He then got down to the real issue. “The real question is why the US government is involved in Ukraine in the first place. We are broke. We cannot even afford to fix our own economy. Yet we want to run Ukraine? Does it really matter who Ukrainians elect to represent them? Is it really a national security matter worth risking a nuclear war with Russia whether Ukraine votes for more regional autonomy and a weaker central government? Isn’t that how the United States was originally conceived?”

Ukraine was being played by the European Union, but at least Crimea was wanting to separate itself from Ukraine and ultimately did to side with Russia. The people did that of their own choosing. Still the US continued to put its nose where it did not belong, failing to listen to the wisdom of founding father George Washington, who warned us of such entanglements. Ukraine was not in our national interests and we could not afford being involved.

Just remember, this is not the first time we’ve abandoned the principles of our founding fathers. Take a look.
