James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas Exposes New York Times for Exploiting Social Media & News Manipulation

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas never ceases to break stories that affect the American people, and his latest exposure of the American Pravda is none other than The New York Times and how they exploit social media and manipulate the news.

In a two-part series produced by Project Veritas, an undercover camera captures the words of Nicholas Dudich, Audience Strategy Editor for the Times’ extensive video library.

Dudich speaks candidly about how his left political bias influences his editorial judgment and reveals an unusual connection to former FBI Director James Comey, and a strange association with domestic terror group Antifa.

In a press release by Project Veritas, the organization wrote:

Project Veritas has released a video of the New York Times video gatekeeper Nicholas Dudich, who was caught on hidden-camera boasting of his lack of journalistic ethics. Dudich, who serves as Audience Strategy Editor, displays a lack of integrity throughout the video, manages videos which go “on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram” for the Times.

While talking about being objective at the Times, Dudich replies candidly, “No I’m not, that’s why I’m here.

Dudich considers himself an important player at the New York Times, telling the Project Veritas Journalist “my voice is on… my imprint is on every video we do.”

Dudich goes on to explain what he might do to target President Trump:

“I’d target his businesses, his dumb f**k of a son, Donald Jr., and Eric…

“Target that. Get people to boycott going to his hotels. Boycott… So a lot of the Trump brands, if you can ruin the Trump brand and you put pressure on his business and you start investigating his business and you start shutting it down, or they’re hacking or other things. He cares about his business more than he cares about being President. He would resign. Or he’d lash out and do something incredibly illegal, which he would have to.”When the undercover journalist asks Dudich if he could make sure that the anti-Trump stories make it to the front, he replied, “Oh, we always do.”

As stated in the NYT Ethical Handbook, the goal of the New York Times is to “cover the news as impartially as possible.” It continues in Section 62:

“Journalists have no place on the playing field of politics. Staff members are entitled to vote, but they must do nothing that might raise questions about their professional neutrality or that of The Times.”

Dudich is simply demonstrating what those of us who actually understand human nature already know and have been saying for years, and that is that no one in the news media, mainstream or alternative is without bias.  Surely some are less than others, but we all report on the same things from that worldview, including how we see the law.

However, then Dudich went on to tell the undercover reporter about his strange stories of personal connection to the FBI and being part of ANTIFA.

“Yeah, I used to be an Anti-Fa punk once upon a time.” he told the undercover journalist. “So, I had fun. They’d start s**t, I’m like, I get to hit you. I’m so excited.”

He also claims that James Comey, former Director of the FBI, asked him to join Anti-Fa: “I joined that stuff for them [the FBI]. I was an asset… So it was intelligence gathering, seeing if they were [sic], what their agenda was, whether they’re a threat or not.”

“How’d you meet Comey?” asked the Project Veritas journalist. “He’s my godfather,” Dudich explained. “My dad and mom knew him and his wife for a really long time.”

“Well the Comey hearing, I should have recused myself, but I’m not ever telling anybody there [at the Times] that I have a tie with that or else I don’t know if they can keep me on.”

According to the NYT Ethical Handbook, Section 107:

“Staff members may not write about people to whom they are related by blood or marriage or with whom they have close personal relationships, or edit material about such people or make news judgements about them.”

In part two of the undercover report, Dudich explained that he is a gatekeeper and decides what goes out and what doesn’t go out.  In other words, he’s a censor.  Strange that one that was proud to be part of a self-professed anti-fascist group would be engaging in the very thing the group claims to stand for, but we know who they really are, don’t we?

“As an editor, I’m a gatekeeper so I can choose what goes out and what doesn’t go out,” he said.  “And let’s say we wrote something about Facebook negatively… We actually just did a video about Facebook negatively, and I chose to put it in a spot that I knew wouldn’t do well.”

He buried the story because of his friends in Silicon Valley who help his videos to trend.

“Let’s say something ends up on the YouTube front page, New York Times freaks out about it, but they don’t know it’s just because my friends curate the front page,” Dudich said, explaining why he doesn’t want anyone at The New York Times to know about his connections.  “So, it’s like, a little bit of mystery you need in any type of job to make it look like what you do is harder than what it is.”

“The fact remains that Nick Dudich lies and he’s a gatekeeper at the New York Times.” says Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe, “And that fact should be worrisome to the bosses at the paper of record. Who else are they letting spread misinformation in their name?

Project Veritas also video captured Earnest Pettie, the Brand and Diversity Curation Lead at YouTube, also Dudich’s friend and former coworker at Fusion ABC, which helps push Dudich’s videos to the top.

Project Veritas reported:

In a meeting with Pettie, he describes Dudich as “one of the people I think who has more knowledge about YouTube as a platform than probably anyone else that I know.”

Pettie also goes on to explain how a relationship with YouTube benefits the New York Times:

“There are things that exist in the product that, like, are definitely optimized for news.

“Now, like last night if you searched for Hugh Hefner, there’s the search results but then there’s also… A carousel comes up with a page that’s just news videos.

“There’s this need, people are searching for a topic that is, that our systems know is a ‘newsy’ topic, so let’s give them videos that we know to be newsy because we know we have these news partnerships.

“When asked about using algorithms to hide content, Pettie explained how YouTube is able to push what he calls “legitimate news” to the top:

“Realistically, that’s what the… that’s what the news carousel kind of does. So like, it’s above the search results so, at the very least, we can say this shelf of videos from news partners is legitimate news because we know that these are legitimate news organizations. And if at that point, somebody decides they’re going to scroll past that and go find Alex Jones, well, they were looking for him to begin with anyway.”

“Which organizations have YouTube bestowed with the title of ‘legitimate?'” asked James O’Keefe of Project Veritas. “If YouTube is going to get in the news business, they’re going to have to answer for the sins of their news partners.”

The Times gave a response from some of their highest-level staffers:

“Based on what we’ve seen in the Project Veritas video, it appears that a recent hire in a junior position violated our ethical standards and misrepresented his role. In his role at The Times, he was responsible for posting already published video on other platforms and was never involved in the creation or editing of Times videos. We are reviewing the situation now.”

“We are pleased the New York Times is taking our investigation seriously,” said O’Keefe in response to The Times’ response.  “We look forward to the public release of their internal review.”

NYT only provided a response because they were caught with their pants down.  This means nothing but damage control.  They will continue to be just as biased whether it is through the likes of Nick Dudich or some other useful idiot.  Watch and see.

In the meantime, thanks James O’Keefe for exposing these hypocrites for who they are.
