A forty-year-old Algerian student, wielding a hammer at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Tuesday was shot by police after he screamed, “This is for Syria” and bashed a police officer in the head.

The man not only was armed with a hammer, but two kitchen knives and “other unsophisticated weapons,” according to French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb.

Gérard Collomb, the interior minister, said: “We have gone from sophisticated terrorism to a terrorism where any tool can be used to carry out attacks.”

Well, yeah.  This is what patriotic Americans have been trying to tell gun grabbers for years.  A gun is simply a tool, and if someone can’t get a gun, they’ll use a knife or a hammer or whatever they can get their hands on.

“Three police officers were patrolling the site,” said Collomb.  “A person came up behind the officers armed with a hammer and started hitting one of them.”

“Keeping a cool head, his colleague stepped back and opened fire ‘ensuring the attacked officer didn’t suffer any more serious harm,'” he added.

The attacker was shot in the chest and was seen lying on the ground, according to French television network BFMTV.

“This is for Syria,” Collomb said the attacker cried out.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is an Islamic jihadi, no matter how much the media attempts to cover for the religion of pieces.  Some in French media reported that the attacker claimed to be a “soldier of the Caliphate.”

Meanwhile, Paris prosecutors opened a counterterrorism investigation.

French President Emmanuel Macron planned a special security meeting to examine new counterterrorism measures, including extending the country’s state of emergency, Collomb said.

Macron is the culmination of French submission to Islam and the attacks will more than likely continue there under his presidency.  Just this week, he offered American liberals a sanctuary in France.  I wonder how many liberals will be taking him up on that offer now.
