Back in 2017, then Decherd Police Officer Tristan Delacruz made national headlines for carrying around toys with him on patrol “just in case an event arises that requires spreading smiles on children’s faces during traffic stops.” Fast forward to 2021, and we are finding out that the reason for carrying toys on patrol may have been absolutely atrocious.

For unknown reasons, after his stint with the Decherd Police Department, Delacruz was hired on in the neighboring town of Winchester as a police officer. It would be at the Winchester police department where he watched his law enforcement career come crashing down.

Last year, multiple allegations from multiple alleged rapes began to surface and an investigation was launched by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

In October 2020, agents with the TBI received a request from the 12th District Attorney General J. Michael Taylor to launch the investigation and they made a startling discovery. This Tennessee cop, who was the nation’s hero in 2017, was alleged to be a serial rapist.

According to a report from WGNS, during the course of the investigation, agents developed information that identified Delacruz as the individual allegedly responsible for multiple incidents of sexual assault in March of 2020.

Not wanting to get their hands dirty, after the TBI made their allegations, the Winchester Police Department quickly moved to distance themselves from Delacruz and fired him.

The firing was a good move as before the investigation was complete, Delacruz would be arrested for domestic assault on October 20. He was charged with three counts of domestic assault, two counts of interference with an emergency, two counts of vandalism of property valued at between $1,000 and $2,500, false imprisonment, theft of property valued at between $250 and $1,000, and harassment.

As the original investigation continued, and while Delacruz was out on bail, he was arrested again in November 2020 in connection with another assault incident. Apparently, while under investigation for being a serial rapist, Delacruz began stalking his ex-wife and racked up another laundry list of charges.

Finally in May, this serial offender was arrested again as the TBI wrapped up their investigation.

This alleged serial rapist was then hit with a slew of charges stemming from multiple rapes. He then appeared in the Franklin County Circuit Courtroom where he was indicted on six counts of rape, six counts of sexual battery, two counts of domestic assault, one count of false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault.

According to the report, his bail was originally set at $1 million to keep this monster behind bars. However, earlier this month, Judge Thomas Graham reduced the bond to just $100,000 and Delacruz was able to post the bond and was released from custody — despite his track record of repeat offenses while out on bail.

The details of the rapes have not been released and it is unclear if they took place on duty or off. The disgraced officer is now set to appear in a Franklin County Circuit Courtroom on July 29, 2021.

It is indeed a crap shoot when it comes to putting away serial rapist cops so Delacruz may or may not spend more time behind bars. Many times, some of the most vile offenders will receive a slap on the wrist for their crimes.

As TFTP reported, another serial rapist police officer, who admitted to using his badge and cruiser to prey on innocent women — by raping them while on duty — was handed down an insultingly low sentence in 2019. After pleading guilty to five counts of sexual misconduct against multiple victims, and possession of child porn, former Louisville Metro Police officer Pablo Cano, received just five years behind bars.
