While the media blasted President Donald Trump over his travel ban as a “Muslim ban,” Trump’s State Department under Secretary of State Rex Tillerson continues to discriminate against Syrian Christian refugees.

According to the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center only 37 non-Muslims from Syria have been admitted to the US compared to 1,932 Muslims during the Trump administration.

Of those 37, 28 of those have been Syrian Christian refugees.

That means that Christian refugees represent only 1.4 percent of the total admitted.  Compare that to the fact that about 10 percent of Syrians are Christian.

If you remember correctly, Trump said that Syrian Christians would be given priority over Muslims coming into the US.

In this interview with David Brody of CBN News, Trump said that he was going to help Syrian Christians.

“Persecuted Christians, we’ve talked about this, the refugees overseas,” said Brody.  “The refugee program, or the refugee changes you’re looking to make. As it relates to persecuted Christians, do you see them as kind of a priority here?”

“Yes,” said Trump.  “They’ve been horribly treated. Do you know if you were a Christian in Syria it was impossible, at least very tough to get into the United States?”

Trump added, “If you were a Muslim you could come in, but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible and the reason that was so unfair, everybody was persecuted in all fairness, but they were chopping off the heads of everybody but more so the Christians.”

“And I thought it was very, very unfair,” he continued.  “So we are going to help them.”

To be fair, the stories have arisen that Muslims in both Iraq and Syria have faced a high level of martyrdom.

Patrick Poole reports:

From the beginning of 2016 to the last day of Obama’s presidency, only 147 Syrian Christians were admitted — representing 0.8 percent of the 16,329 refugees admitted during that period.

But these anti-Christian policies didn’t just apply to Syrian refugees.

As I reported earlier this year, during the entire Obama administration — as attacks of Egypt’s Coptic Christian community skyrocketed — only 22 Coptic Christians were admitted as refugees. In 2013 and 2014 as the Muslim Brotherhood waged a terror campaign targeting Christians in Egypt, the Obama administration didn’t admit a single Egyptian Christian.

There is good reason to be concerned about the plight of Christians and other religious minorities in Syria. At a press conference in August, Secretary of State Tillerson said:

[ISIS is] clearly responsible for genocide against Yazidis, Christians, and Shia Muslims in areas it controls or has controlled.

The State Department’s Report on International Religious Freedom highlighted anti-Christian persecution in Syria by Sunni extremists, including ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra.

Just last week at an international conference on religious persecution, Syriac Christian Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II estimated that 50 percent of Syria’s Christians had left the country as refugees. This would represent more than one million Syrian Christian refugees:

So, the question must be asked, why has there been virtually no change here on the issue of admittance of Syrian Christians?  Why does the Trump State Department look like it’s the Obama State Department?

In April, I reported more than 1,400 Syrian refugees have been resettled in the united States, according to State Department figures, which is more than double the 625 Syrian refugees resettled under Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah in during the same time in 2016.

Some of that could have been due to Obama fast-tracking 1,800 Muslims into the US that Australia didn’t want following the election of Donald Trump.

And this isn’t the only front it appears like that.  We see the State Department not wanting to hand over Freedom of Information Act requests to government watchdog Judicial Watch with regards to the crimes of Hillary Clinton during her time at the State Department, as well as other documents that have been requested.

Some may say that this is all Tillerson, that the “swamp” has done it to Trump again, but I want to remind everyone that our Constitution lists the President as the head of the Executive Branch.  If things are getting done properly and he delegated that to someone else, ultimately he must answer for it.

With that in mind, I ask President Trump, when are you going to keep your word about helping Syrian Christians?  When will America once again know there is a man in the White House who will not pass the buck to his subordinates, but will say as President Harry Truman said, “The buck stops here”?
