“A father of the fatherless….” -Psalms 82:3.
This last weekend, someone had posted a picture of a young man walking alone, without any family support and without anyone to congratulate him, as he made his way to his graduation ceremony where he would step out onto the stage to receive his graduation diploma.
After the ceremony, he walked back home all sweaty and without anyone to give him a hug, or so he may have thought. His name is Corey Patrick.
After seeing the picture of Corey, I knew that this was wrong at every level and my heart literally broke.

I recollected the same experiences throughout my life, having no dad or mom to come to parent-teacher conferences and no one to support either me or my brother when it came to our sporting events, no visits on parent night when we had to endure at summer camps, no one to come home to, Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays without anyone to celebrate, etc. Yes, I understand Corey, and not only Corey, but this up and coming, fatherless generation. But wait…
Scripture tells us “Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD” (Isaiah 54:1).
Scripture tells us “A father of the fatherless….” (Psalms 82:3), and He is.
Little did Corey realize that he would be acknowledged on national radio, as well as national television. Little did he know that his pictures were going viral and little did he know that someone was going to buy him a brand new car.
While Corey may have thought that no one was watching, I am here to tell him, and you, that our Father in Heaven was watching all along (Psalm 68:6). AMEN!
