The Wall Street Journal analyzed active Facebook users’ “Likes” of cultural issues and cross-referenced them with “Likes” of the two presidential candidates, Donald Trump (9.1 million Likes) and Hillary Clinton (4.3 million likes).

The data includes an analysis of public figures, celebrities, music, television shows, and values and was broken down by each state and geographical region in the U.S.

For example, the analysis shows that Democrats like George Takei, the actor who plays Sulu on Star Trek, who is also a LGBTQI advocate.

Only in one area of the country, the South East, Democrats prefer actress Jada Pinkett Smith more.  Compare this with the actors Republicans like most–  John Wayne in the West and Adam Sandler in the East. (Both Republicans)

In the South East, Republicans like most actor and evangelical Christian Kirk Cameron, who posts about his faith on Facebook.

When it comes to music, Facebook Likes show that the artists Democrats like most are Adele, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga.

Republicans like Ted Nugent, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, George Strait, and Luke Bryant, with the exception of those in the North East who like most rapper Eminem.

Not surprisingly, television shows show the greatest divide among Americans: Democrats like “The Daily Show” and “The Rachel Maddow Show;” Republicans prefer “The Kelly File,” “Duck Dynasty,” and “Family Guy.”

 If Facebook Likes are any indication of voting patterns, this study might prove insightful.
