Florida Commission: Probably Cause To Investigate Andrew Gillum For Ethics Violations

This really should come as no surprise.  In fact, it probably should be happening a lot more around the country with justice following.  A Florida ethics commission has determined that there is sufficient evidence to investigate former Democratic Tennessee mayor and Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, who accepted gifts while on a trip in 2016.

According to National Review:

Gillum’s attorney, Barry Richard, told reporters Friday that an administrative-law judge would likely hear the case in the next 30 to 45 days.

“We’re going to have a full evidentiary hearing before an independent judge. It’ll be open to the public, and everybody can decide for themselves,” Richard said following a closed-door hearing at the Florida First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee. “There for sure will be no settlement.”

Erwin Jackson, the Tallahassee businessman who filed the complaint against Gillum, told reporters that the commission found probable cause to investigate five out of six possible ethics violations, according to the Tampa Bay Times….

The complaint focuses on trips Gillum took with long-time friend and lobbyist Adam Corey prior to his run for governor. In 2016, Gillum traveled to New York with Corey and two FBI agents posing as land developers to investigate Tallahassee government corruption. Text messages released by the ethics commission in October show that Gillum was aware that one of the men he believed was a land developer bought his ticket to a Broadway production of Hamilton, as well as paying for a boat tour around the Statue of Liberty.

Gillum, however, maintains that he believed his brother purchased the ticket, the cost of which he later reimbursed.

The ethics commission is also looking into an August 2016 trip Gillum took to Costa Rica with his wife, which was arranged by Corey after he won a week-long stay in a luxury villa. Gillum has long maintained that he reimbursed Corey for the cost of the villa, but invoices released along with the text messages on Tuesday indicate Corey’s accountant never billed him for the expense….

Fox News adds:

The complaint against Gillum was originally filed last year by Tallahassee businessman Erwin Jackson, who alleges that the former mayor received gifts above the state limit of $100 on trips to Costa Rica and New York City.

The five counts being leveled against Gillum all relate to trips he took with lobbyist and former friend Adam Corey before Gillum launched his gubernatorial campaign. The trips also coincided with attempts by undercover FBI agents investigating public corruption to get close to Gillum.

On one trip to Costa Rica, Corey – who has since turned on Gillum – sent the former mayor a calendar invitation for the two to meet with an undercover agent posing as a developer from Atlanta. During another trip – this time to New York City – Corey took Gillum on an outing, alongside at least two undercover FBI agents, that included a boat ride around Liberty Island and a performance of the Broadway show “Hamilton.”

While Gillum was not present on Friday for the hearing at the First District Court of Appeal, his gubernatorial campaign last year released documents that it said proved Gillum paid for all of his expenses on the Costa Rica trip and that his brother, Marcus Gillum, gave him the ticket to “Hamilton.”

In an email, however, Corey wrote to Gillum that one of the undercover agents and his “crew” had tickets for “Hamilton.” Gillum responded by saying, “awesome news,” according to the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper.

Gillum has since stated that he didn’t know he was dealing with undercover FBI agents and has long maintained that he met with the FBI in 2017 and was told he was not a focus of its investigation.

The case moves on to the Division of Administrative Hearings in a public hearing.

That’s not all.  Gillum’s campaign was the epitome of corruption and he has been in bed with a large number of anti-Americans, including the infamous designated terror group Hamas-CAIR.

In November, I reported on one of Gillum’s staffers as he was on live video declaring that programs people would be hoping for from Gillum, should he be elected, would ever happen.

Additionally, Gillum has a haughty, elitist ego to stroke while pointing his finger at his opponents as anti-Semites while he is the very thing he accuses them of being.

Gillum was also backed by international criminal George Soros and blasted those who didn’t want non-citizens voting in 2018.
