Hillary Clinton’s America: A Rigged System

The Donald Trump campaign for President released its first ad of the general campaign on Thursday, and boy is it a doozy.

For their first general election ad the Trump campaign chose to focus in on Hillary Clinton’s complicity in making America less safe. The ad is titled “Two Americas: Immigration,” and it zeroes in on Clinton’s play to continue allowing unvetted Muslim “refugees” to flood across our borders. Meanwhile, in Donald Trump’s America the borders are made secure and American families are kept safe.

In Hillary Clinton’s America, the system stays rigged against Americans. Syrian refugees flood in. Illegal immigrants convicted of committing crimes get to stay, collecting Social Security benefits, skipping the line. Our border open. It’s more of the same, but worse.

Donald Trump’s America is secure, terrorists and dangerous criminals kept out. The border secure. Our families safe. Change that makes America safe again. Donald Trump for president.

The ad will air in four important battleground states over the next week – Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida voters will get to spend some time ruminating on the different approaches to Muslim migration that the two candidates seem to have.

This kind of messaging should work well for the Trump campaign because the polling data shows that most Americans agree with Mr. Trump on this issue.

Most voters support Donald Trump’s plan for temporarily restricting immigration from countries with a history of terrorism and for testing to screen out newcomers who don’t share America’s values. Most also agree that such a test is likely to reduce the number of terrorists entering the United States.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey find that 59% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a temporary ban on immigration into the United States from “the most dangerous and volatile regions of the world that have a history of exporting terrorism” until the federal government improves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here…

Even more voters agree with Trump’s plan to force an “ideological screening” test on migrants to ensure that they will acculturate and live according to our cultural values.

Seventy-three percent (73%) agree with the Republican presidential nominee’s call for a government screening test for those looking to enter the country that determines whether they have hostile attitudes towards the United States and its constitutional freedoms.

This is a win-win area for the Trump campaign to focus on, and their first attack on the Clinton team will likely go over well. Now he just needs to begin broadening the attack and start hitting on the Clinton campaign’s weak points (which are legion). The Trump campaign has been quiet (the Green Party has actually spent more money on advertising thus far) until now; perhaps we are witnessing the turning point of the campaign?
