Obama Gearing Up for Assault on Guns – If Elected Clinton Promises More of the Same!
Here it comes, folks.
On Monday the White House confirmed that President Obama was preparing to take executive action on what he views as ‘America’s gun problem.’ The President is looking to write a series of executive actions that he believes will help us little people control ourselves, seeing as how our legislature has chosen not to pass any of the gun control laws that President Obama has advocated for.
Here’s what White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest had to say:
“The president has frequently pushed his team to consider a range of executive actions that could more effectively keep guns out of the hands of criminals and others who shouldn’t have access to them. That’s something that is ongoing here…
I don’t have a lot of details to provide you in terms of the work that’s being done by the President’s team to do this scrub of the available authorities that the president may have to address gun violence. But that is ongoing work and if there are any conclusions that are arrived at that the President agrees with then we will announce it publicly…
It’s a high priority and will continue to be until we start to see more progress on this issue in this town. I can tell you that they’re not stumped, they’re continuing to review the law that’s on the books and continuing to consult with legal authorities but also others who may have ideas about what steps that can be taken to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.”
The White House also spent a bit of time praising Hillary Clinton for her similar efforts in talking up gun control over the past few days. Clinton has been preaching about more restrictive gun control for years but has really ramped up the rhetoric since the shootings in Oregon. Over the last couple of days she’s even suggested that if she is elected President, she would immediately take executive action on gun control.
On Monday, Clinton laid out a few key planks in her ever-growing anti-gun agenda.
Clinton also said that “if Congress won’t act,” she will take “administrative action to close” the so-called “gun show and internet sales loophole” and require that anyone trying to sell a significant number of guns be deemed “in the business” of selling firearms…
Similar to the Bill Clinton administration’s Assault Weapons Ban of 1994, which later expired under the Bush administration, Clinton called for the ban of “military style weapons.”
“Military style assault weapons do not belong on our streets,” her platform reads. “They are a danger to law enforcement and to our communities. Clinton supports keeping assault weapons off our streets.”
