Over the last several years, the Russians and NATO have been flexing their muscles at each other. This all began with Russia’s annexation of the Crimea and the subsequent conflict in the Ukraine.

Now there seems to be more moves and counter-moves between the two.

SkyNews reports:

Russia President Vladimir Putin has warned that his country will move its missiles closer to Europe in response to NATO “expansion” plans.

In a television interview to be broadcast later on Monday, Mr. Putin said he was “concerned” about what NATO is doing.

He said: “Why are we reacting to NATO expansion so emotionally? We are concerned by NATO’s decision-making.”

Russia is to deploy its S-400 air missile defense system and ballistic Iskander missile in the Russian region of Kaliningrad, according to the country’s RIA news agency.

This goes along with Poland beginning to train women in self-defense courses. Both systems are defensive in nature and pose no threat of attack. But, they are showing Russia’s willingness to meet force with force.

This should also prove to make the neighbors a little more concerned about Russian intervention.

Kaliningrad is separated from mainland Russia by borders with Poland and Lithuania.

Vikto Ozerov, head of the defense committee in the upper house of parliament, was reported as saying Russia sees the deployment as a response to the US setting up a missile shield in Europe.

The idea of Russian invading its neighbors might seem a little farfetched to 21 Century Americans. After all, does that sort of thing still happen in Europe?

The thing that has to be realized is that it is a reality for millions in Crimea and Ukraine.

And History has shown that every time Russia gets strong, Poland is an prime target.
