Senate Surrenders Debt and Spending Hike Deal to Obama Under Cover of Darkness
More unconstitutional spending… more debt for Americans, their children and grandchildren that will never be able to be paid back. And all of this was led by Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as the senate overcame a filibuster early Friday morning to pass a new budget deal that increased spending by at least $80 billion over the next two years, playing right into Hussein Obama’s hands.
The Washington Times reports:
Senate Republicans managed to wrangle enough of their troops to overcome a filibuster early Friday morning and pass the new budget deal, granting President Obama yet another debt holiday, busting the budget caps and boosting spending some $80 billion over the next two years.
Democrats, who are far more thrilled with the deal, did the heavy lifting, providing most of the votes as they won some $40 billion in new domestic spending in 2016 and 2017. They also forced the GOP to retreat on the hard-fought 2011 budget agreement that had helped bring deficits back under control.
Conservative Republicans were irate at their leaders and at defense hawks within the GOP who forced the deal by saying it was worth busting the caps in order to get the Pentagon more money at a time when the U.S. is fighting the war on terror.
The deal cleared the Senate by a vote of 64-35.

McConnel said of some of his Republican colleagues’ objections to the deal, “I share some concerns other colleagues have raised. But here’s the bottom line: This is a fully-offset agreement that rejects tax hikes, secures long-term savings through entitlement reforms, and provides increased support for our military.”
Sadly, there will be tax hikes to pay for increased debt. Not only that, but there can be no long-term savings when you are already $19 trillion in debt. It just means you are spending money you don’t have and will have to pay it back with interest. How is that saving anything? It isn’t! As far as our military is concerned, they are getting a ton of money, but the issue is it is not being spent efficiently. McConnell is merely politicking rather than being honest.
“Each time Congress lifts the debt ceiling without genuine and substantial reductions in spending, it undermines our nation’s long-term economic health and reduces the ability of our children and grandchildren to pursue the American Dream,” said Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), who opposed the deal.
This all came about because of John “Good Riddance” Boehner‘s quick push of the deal through the House of Representatives just prior to Boehner, Jr., Paul Ryan (R-WI) taking over as Speaker of the House. The corruption in Washington is right in the American people’s faces!
This deal allows for more spending and debt through March 2017 and the fear claim was that the government would default on its debts. Technically, it has many times. The fact that the money they voted on will have to be borrowed indicates we don’t actually have it, so by definition it is a default. It’s just being masqueraded as a solution.
Apparently, many want big government in Washington to remain open without actually dealing with the problem.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) took a short filibuster against the deal saying, “This filibuster will go on to about 1:00 in the morning and then we will find out who the true conservatives in this town are. It disappoints me greater than I can possibly express that the party that I belong to that should be the conservative party doesn’t appear to be conservative. This is a big problem.”
“So instead of saying, ‘You know what, the debt is a real problem and we both have to conserve in both areas,’ they both get together and raise the money for the [sacred] cows,” he added about the reality of our current situation. “On the right, we are busting the limits because the Right wants more military spending; the Left wants more for welfare; the unholy alliance, a secret handshake, and what gets worse? The debt. We’re borrowing $1 million every minute, and it’s not going to end in a pretty way.”
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also weighed in on the deal, calling it a “diamond encrusted glow in the dark AmEx Card” for Obama that would be paid for by future generations.
