Utah’s Woke GOP Gov Betrays Female Athletes
This isn’t a shock.
The GOP brand is a joke in some states and I’m skeptical that any Democrat could be more hostile to family values and equality than Governor Spencer Cox, despite talking about family values, the bishop thing, and the usual political resume of anyone running for public office in Utah.

Gov. Spencer Cox isn’t allergic to the words “equity” or “diversity,” even though these terms elicit suspicion from some in his Republican base and outright disdain from others.
Cox spoke about inclusivity while running for the state’s highest office, gave equality and opportunity a section in the document laying out goals for his administration and asked his senior staff to complete training on empathy, race and “the intersectional Utah story.” He created new positions to coordinate equity initiatives and promote diversity across state agencies.
That alone was enough for outspoken conservative state school board member Natalie Cline to derisively label him “Utah’s woke governor” earlier this year.
Now Cox is delivering wokeness while betraying female athletes by vowing to veto a bill that would prevent men from competing against women.
“We care deeply about Utah’s female athletes and our LGBTQ+ community. To those hurting tonight: It’s going to be OK. We’re going to help you get through this. Please reach out if you need help,” Cox posted to Facebook.
This is typical of Cox’s touchy-feely wokeness.
Here’s an excerpt from his speech on the Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando.
The Prophet Muhammad is reported to have said: “You will not enter paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another.”
Jesus said, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.”
Utah Republicans and voters in general know who they were voting for.
Then again when your primary is a close race between this guy and Jon Huntsman, what else can you do but throw up your hands.
