Over the weekend, a horrifying photo of two children locked inside a dog kennel-like cage went viral as it depicts the atrocious conditions immigrant children endure while in the custody of US authorities. Journalists, public figures, and even former President Barack Obama’s own speech writer decried the photo and lambasted the current president for treating children in such a manner. However, once these folks found out the photo was taken under Obama, they quickly moved to delete it.

CNN journalist Hadas Gold, NYT Magazine editor-in-chief Jake Silverstein, Obama’s speechwriter Jon Favreau, Women’s March co-founder Linda Sarsour and former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa all shared the image of children sleeping in a cage at an ICE detention center. And, all of them lambasted the current administration.

A lot of big names are sharing this article from 2014, but they didn’t say a word back when it actually happened under Obama.

Sharing an image of children being mistreated by the US government should be welcomed at all times—no matter the date—as awareness and information are what lead to these atrocities coming to an end. However, because these big wigs on the left were exposing atrocities carried out under their own party’s rule, the images and accompanying tweets were swiftly deleted.

CNN’s Hadas Gold claimed to have deleted the tweet because it gave the “impression of recent photos” —whatever that means. However, she was quickly called out for it.

The image being shared was from a 2014 AZ Central article showing photos of what the media found when they were given tours of holding centers in Brownsville and Nogales, Texas.

The fact that this horrific scene unfolded in 2014 versus 2018 is entirely irrelevant to anyone who actually cares about children. However, likely due to the fact that it depicted their party in a negative light, all of the people mentioned above, quickly deleted it. Shameful, indeed.

Equally as shameful, however, is the fact that those on the right were so quick to call this out—only because it happened under Obama. There have been recent revelations coming from Border Patrol of murder, rape, and unspeakable crimes against children, yet Trump supporters remained silent until the left got triggered by one of their own.

In March, a video capturing what looked like a scene out of Nazi Germany went viral showing the horrific nature of ICE raids. In the video, Perla Morales-Luna, a single mother, can be seen being wrenched away from her sobbing daughters as she tries to grasp one of their hands. She is then ‘disappeared’ into a U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle.

ICE attempted to justify the snatch and grab by claiming that Morales-Luna was facing criminal charges. However, an attorney representing Morales-Luna has said he has found no criminal charges ever filed against her. He has “no idea” why officials are accusing the mother of three of being involved in a major criminal smuggling operation.

“We’ve checked all the court records. We don’t see any criminal charges ever filed against her in any capacity,” Andres Moreno, Morales-Luna’s attorney, said.

Where was the outrage on the right?

What’s more, according to a recent report from the ACLU, children aren’t just being kept in cages by immigration officials, they’re being raped in them.

As VICE reports:

As a detained 16-year-old immigrant waited in her cell with her infant child, a Border Patrol stood in the doorway and warned her, “Right now, we close the door, we rape you and fuck you.” On a separate occasion, an agent tossed an immigrant child to the ground, leveled a gun at him, and told the kid, “Stop or I will shoot you.” A group of officers once told several pregnant girls that they’d “come to contaminate this country with all those things. Look at all those other girls, all fat.”

The power of the two-party paradigm to help people rationalize and justify inhumane actions against others is as overt as it is alarming.

No longer are Americans concerned with fostering freedom and fighting corruption. Instead, the left attempts to expose the corruption of the right while condoning their own corruption, and vice versa. All the while, the establishment maintains its course of more police state and more war.

As the left and right fight each other, they are fleeced by those in power, while at the same time, praising on their “team” for being the ones to do the fleecing.

It was this exact scenario that the second president of the United States, John Adams stated was his worst fear in government.

In a letter to Jonathan Jackson, dated Oct. 2, 1780, Adams summed up our current paradigm quite succinctly when he said:

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.

Now, as we watch Americans argue over whose president caged children, this political evil is no longer a warning. It is a reality.
