Some of these cities didn’t actually have slavery, but that’s a minor detail when the goal is to pander to a chunk of the Democrat base while blatantly disregarding the law.

 Eleven U.S. mayors — from Los Angeles to Kansas City — have pledged to pay reparations for slavery to a small group of Black residents in their cities, saying their aim is to set an example for the federal government on how a nationwide program could work.

The mayors had no details on how much it would cost, who would pay for it or how people would be chosen.

Of course they didn’t. It’s virtue signaling.

First, you announce that you’re going to do the thing that the media has been telling you to do, and then you figure out how to actually do it.

All of those details would be worked out with the help of local commissions comprised of representatives from Black-led organizations set up to advise the mayor of each city. But the mayors say they are committed to paying reparations instead of just talking about them.

The organizations, unsurprisingly, propose that the money goes their way in order to “help” the people somehow still suffering from slavery.

“Black Americans don’t need another study that sits on a shelf,” said St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, the city’s first Black female mayor and a member of the group. “We need decisive action to address the racial wealth gap holding communities back across our country.”

Tishaura’s father, Virvus Jones, was the St. Louis Comptroller before he was caught red-handed. And very little has changed.

An investment banker convicted of felonies in 1995 and imprisoned for almost three years — in a case that also landed former St. Louis Comptroller Virvus Jones in jail — now is an executive with a firm doing millions of dollars in business with Jones’ daughter, city Treasurer Tishaura Jones.

Haven’t St. Louis taxpayers paid enough reparations to the Jones family already? Maybe the Jones family can start paying reparations to St. Louis taxpayers instead?

The other mayors are Jorge Elorza of Providence, Rhode Island; Steve Adler of Austin, Texas; Steve Schewel of Durham, North Carolina: Esther Manheimer of Asheville, North Carolina: Quinton Lucas of Kansas City; Darrell Steinberg of Sacramento, California; Melvin Carter of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Keisha Currin of Tullahassee, Oklahoma.

The majority of these were not actual slave states. But this isn’t about slavery. It’s about enslaving Americans to the Democrats who were responsible for slavery.
