“Sheriff charges man with making Walmart bomb threat,” Watertown Daily Tribune, June 10, 2016:
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Watertown man with making a bomb threat Wednesday evening at the Walmart off Route 3 in the town of Watertown.
Around 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, New York State Police and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the Walmart after Desmond L. Bond, 26, of Watertown, allegedly used the store’s intercom system to say he was a member of al-Qaida and would blow up the store in one hour.
The store and parking lot was subsequently evacuated and a search was conducted by the sheriff and New York State Police K-9 explosive teams.
Mr. Bond was arraigned in Town of Pamelia Court and is being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. The Sheriff’s office was assisted by members of State Police, Jefferson County Fire and Emergency Management and town of Watertown Fire Department.
