Was Final Nail in Cruz’s Coffin Ignoring Carly’s Fall? [video]
Kathleen Parker, a conservative columnist for The Washington Post, argues that the very moment Sen. Ted Cruz lost his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination occurred when he ignored his running mate, Carly Fiorina, falling off of a stage.
Parker wrote yesterday that Carly’s fall during a rally in Indiana on Sunday, showed “the man Ted Cruz isn’t.” She wrote:

“Even if Cruz missed the fall initially, and this isn’t clear, the video plainly shows his lack of action. Indeed, his decision not to act. This minuscule moment, though fleeting, is nevertheless novelesque in scope, a story about the greed of ambition and the ambivalence of narcissism.”
The video went viral, which shows that after introducing Cruz, while he and his wife stepped out from behind the curtain, Fiorina quite literally dropped off of the stage.
Heidi Cruz appeared to notice and went over to help Fiorina while her husband shook hands with supporters. It looks like Cruz glanced in Fiorina’s direction, but did not recognize, or attempt to help her after she fell. Parker writes,
“When a lady falls, a gentleman helps her up. Period.””It was a rare opportunity for Cruz to shed his image as a reptilian barfly and trade his mom-jeans for Lycra tights and a cape. But, no. In a titanic fail, he paddled away as his female crew mate foundered.”
Whether or not helping Carly could have helped Cruz’s losing campaign remains to be seen. But, Parker does have a point.
