Jindal Compares Illegal Immigration to an Invasion

Like Europe, we have to begin to look at the immigration to our country in a real light. We have to stop being so emotional and truly look at what is happening. It is a difficult task. I know many good people who have come to our country and been law abiding. They are truly seeking to make a better way of life for themselves and their families. I understand the heartache associated with split families and denied visas. But we also see the lawlessness and the stealing of jobs, from both natural born citizens as well as legal immigrants.

Bobby Jindal has come out swinging on this issue, sounding not too different from Trump.

Breitbart reports:

Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a strong contender in Iowa who surpassed amnesty advocate Jeb Bush in support, tells Breitbart News Daily “immigration without assimilation is not immigration; it’s an invasion.”

Now, many will not take kindly to such a statement. They will not like the fact that Jindal is demanding that those who come to our country become like those already there, but it is something that we cannot take lightly. Even if Jindal is not your favorite candidate, he has a point.

Breitbart continued:

“One of the things that America is so proud of is, and rightfully so, we have been this melting pot for so long. The Left doesn’t want that anymore. They want to call us a salad bowl. They think it is culturally arrogant, or xenophobic, to insist that people that want to come to America to assimilate, and that’s nonsense,” said Jindal. “The reality is, we don’t make anybody come here. Millions of people all over the world want to come here, and folks that don’t want to be Americans shouldn’t come. And the reality is, they shouldn’t come and use our freedoms to undermine freedoms for other people.”

“Let’s be really honest about this: Immigration without assimilation is not immigration; it’s an invasion,” he said. “When you look at what’s happening in Europe, you’ve got second and third generation immigrants that don’t consider themselves parts of those societies, those cultures, those values. We mustn’t let that happen here.”

Taken in context, Jindal is right on the money. The point is not that the Mexican culture has nothing to offer us or that people have to talk and look like Americans. The point is that if you come here, you should be taking on many of the traits that make Americans American.

Many of our greatest citizens were the 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants. Their parents or grandparents came here and taught them to love their new home. They did not raise their children to be different; they raised them to be the Americans. And this is the great thing about America: immigrating does not mean a complete abandonment of the culture you came from.

The point of coming to this land is to be American. If you love Mexico or Italy, that’s great. But stay there: do not come here. We do not want to be like Mexico or Italy. We do not want to be like anyone. We are the country with the richest, best-fed poor people in the world. Why would we want to change that?

You might not like what Jindal said, but you had better listen. It will not be long before you see that he is right because we will look less and less like your father’s America and more like their father’s Mexico. And if it was so good, why are they coming here?
