The Stealth Foreign Takeover of America’s Colleges: Harvard & Yale Failed to Report Hundreds of Millions in Foreign Donations & Contracts

The Department of Education is launching an investigation into some of America’s most prestigious colleges and universities.

On average, fewer than 300 of the approximately 6,000 U.S. colleges and universities report receiving foreign money each year. The data indicates most foreign funds reportedly flow into approximately 50 large institutions.

Why try to hide foreign donations?

The Department’s records since approximately 1990 show U.S. universities and colleges have reported donations from Qatar, China, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in excess of $6.6 billion, but this sum may be significantly underestimated. According to investigations by Congress, GAO, and the Department, colleges and universities significantly underreport their foreign gifts and contracts.

Oh, I see.

Obviously colleges don’t want to report being in the pockets of China and Saudi Arabia.

The Department of Education announced on Tuesday that a full investigation is being opened after some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country have been caught hiding foreign donations.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Education announced today it is launching investigations into both Harvard and Yale Universities after it appears both Ivy League higher education institutions potentially failed to report hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign gifts and contracts.

In recent weeks, the Department discovered Yale University may have failed to report at least $375 million in foreign gifts and contracts, choosing not to report any gifts and contracts over the last four years.

The Department is also concerned Harvard University may lack appropriate institutional controls over foreign money and has failed to report fully all foreign gifts and contracts as required by law. This comes after Dr. Charles Lieber, chair of Harvard University’s Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department, was indicted for lying about his involvement with the Chinese government’s Thousand Talents Plan and admitting that Harvard lacks adequate institutional controls for effective oversight and tracking of very large donations.

“This is about transparency,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. “If colleges and universities are accepting foreign money and gifts, their students, donors, and taxpayers deserve to know how much and from whom. Moreover, it’s what the law requires. Unfortunately, the more we dig, the more we find that too many are underreporting or not reporting at all. We will continue to hold colleges and universities accountable and work with them to ensure their reporting is full, accurate, and transparent, as required by the law.”

Hanban is most notable for the Confucius Institute program.[4] It also sponsors Chinese Bridge, a competition in Chinese proficiency for non-native speakers.[5] Organizationally, Hanban sits directly under the Ministry of Education.[3] It has numerous subdivisions, including three separate Confucius Institute divisions in charge of Asian and African, American and Oceanian, and European regions.[3]

In 2014, The Economist labeled Hanban a “government entity”.[6] Hanban has been criticized for its Confucius Institute program and for the actions of former Director-General Xu Lin (MORE)

Again, why would Harvard and Yale NOT want to report donations from countries such as China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar?

And why would these countries pour $6.6 Billion into American Universities?

They are buying the minds of our undergrads America.

All of this rampant political correctness, lowering of educational standards and disrespect for America from our young people comes at a price, and a few countries seem willing to pay it.

We’ve talked a lot about the downfall of primary education.

The brainwashing of our younger children seems like an agenda that could come to fruition in 20 years.

But what about NOW?

Is foreign money partly responsible for the national insanity being manifested by our college kids and the universities they attend?

Everything is seemingly Trump’s fault within national college culture these days.

Does it surprise you that American institutions of higher learning are accepting billions of dollars from countries that have a vested interest in shaping OUR future.

Thank God Betsy DeVos and the Department of Education are all over this.

Universities don’t hide donors for no reason.
