Trump: ‘Democrats… Rather See Us Not Do Well Than See Our Country Do Great’

President Trump traveled to West Virginia on Thursday to spend some time with his colleagues in the GOP.

Most of the Republicans at the meeting had traveled by train the day before. Their trip made the news for all the wrong reasons. As the train traveled across Virginia it collided with a garbage truck that had stalled out on the tracks near Charlottesville, Virginia. One of the men on the truck died, and another was injured but fortunately, the passengers on the train were left mostly unscathed. The Republican delegation eventually made their way to West Virginia, late but uninjured.

Trump told the media on Wednesday that he was shocked when he heard the news about the accident, but that he was thankful to hear that the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Thankfully, on Thursday the President was able to spend time with all the Republican legislators as they encouraged each other to stand strong on their principles and strategize for the coming political battles in 2018.

The President was given the opportunity to speak to the gathered and he had quite a bit to say, but the most important part may have come when he said what the rest of us were thinking – when it comes to the Democrat Party.

We are a nation of builders, and dreamers and strivers and fighters. And together we’re building a safe, strong and very proud America. Already since the election, we’ve created 2.4 million jobs. That’s unthinkable. And that doesn’t include all of the things that are happening.

You’re going to see numbers that get even better. The stock market has added more than $8 trillion in new wealth. Unemployment claims are at a 45-year low, which is something. After years of wage stagnation, we are finally seeing rising wages.

African-American and Hispanic unemployment have both reached the lowest levels ever recorded. That’s something very, very special.

And when I made that statement the other night, there was zero movement from the Democrats. They sat there stone cold, no smile, no applause. You would’ve thought that on that one, they would’ve sort of at least clapped a little bit.

Which tells you perhaps they’d rather see us not do well than see our country do great, and that’s not good. That’s not good.

Hard words, but completely accurate and demonstrably so.
