Wendy Davis Claims That the Murder of Her Child Was an Act of Love
When discussing the topic of abortion with people, there will almost always be an emotional response. Either you love the practice or you hate the practice, and there is seldom an in between position. So, most get incensed when they hear remarks like the ones made by former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis.
Breitbart reports:
In an interview with Mic, Davis said, “I discovered that my daughter was suffering from an irreparable and non-life sustaining brain deformation or malformation, and it was one of the most heart-wrenching decisions I’ve ever had to make, and I made my decision out of love.”

This statement is one that defies logic. She is saying that she murdered her daughter because her daughter was going to die. Wait, what?
So, because the child was not going to have the capacity to live outside the womb, she killed the little girl? This would be like shooting a person, on their way down, who had fallen off a building ten stories high. What was the point?
I am not calling into question the truth of this statement, but I am questioning the logic. She does not tell us if giving birth to the child would have placed her in any danger. This would seem to make more sense, but just a little more. The problem is that Davis apparently does not know about the percentages of misdiagnosed complications during pregnancy.
But what we do know about Mrs. Davis is that she has not always been honest.
Breitbart reports:
In January of 2014, Davis admitted she lied about key events in her life – including her divorce, and in January of this year, Davis also admitted she was faking her support for gun rights in order to obtain votes in her gubernatorial bid.
So, she has lied about events in her past in order to look better publicly. She has lied about her divorce. She has lied about her political positions. What would make us think that she was now honest about her pregnancy or the reason she had a doctor kill her daughter? But, beyond this, Davis has shown herself to completely misunderstand what abortion is and what it does.
Breitbart continues:
In a Breitbart News exclusive in May, Davis was asked at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser why it was acceptable to abort a seven-pound baby.
“That never happens. It never happens. It really never happens,” she said, and added:
And, the only time that late term abortions occur is when something has gone horribly wrong and either the mother’s life is in danger or the child’s life is in a very precarious situation. What we can’t ever know is what people are dealing with when they make those personal choices. And, it’s not right for us to step into their shoes, is what I tell people.
So, according to Wendy Davis, what we need to understand is that the killing of children by their mothers should not be judged. We should not think that it is so cut and dry. We have not walked in their shoes. We do not know what those women were going through or what they faced. But there is a problem with this reasoning.
The same could be said for the woman in South Carolina who drove her two children into a lake. The same could be said of the mother who drowned her five children in the bath because she thought they were controlled by Satan. You see, we can even say that about the man who, in a state of depression, walked into McDonalds and killed 15 people. But what Mrs. Davis does not realize is that not understanding or “standing in their shoes” does not make murder okay.
Unless the doctor is God or a prophet of God, he cannot know what the life span of that child will be. And if the mother, for whatever reason, allows the murder of her child, then she is guilty of the death of that child.
To see it any other way is to deny logic, nature, and, most importantly, Scripture.
