When They See The Son: Can I Share With You The 3 Most Honorable Compliments That I Have Ever Received?
“When I see Jesus Christ I simply want to be what He wants me to be.” -Oswald Chambers
The first compliment came when in Atlanta, Georgia where me and the crew went to meet with Mayor Andrew Young, who was to the right or the left of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil rights movement.
During our interview with Andrew, we were to be allotted an hour. Yet, when the hour was expired, Andrew told us not to worry about the time. After 3 hours passed, Andrew had looked up to me with tears in his eyes while we were filming and said, “Martin would have loved you.”
In response, I had said, “If I can become half the man (In Christ) that Dr. King was, I would be happy” (Proverbs 27:2).
The second compliment came when departing from someone that had worked as an assistant in the ministry for 14 years. Before this person had left, I had asked, “Have I ever asked anyone on the ministry team to do for the ministry what I was unwilling to first do? Have I ever one time asked you to lie or to cover for me? Have I ever asked you to defend me (Psalm 26:11)
The answer to all three questions was “No!”
Thirdly, over a year and a half ago, I was asked to speak to the Constitution Party as the keynote speaker and I obliged.
Upon arrival, I met a very sweet man who was hosting the event. Over a short time, we became friends so much so that I had seen him at some of our events that we have done in Michigan.
A short time later, we found that he had passed away.
When I heard of his passing, I reached out to his son and had asked where the funeral was going to be since we were in Michigan doing back-to-back events. He shared the information as we then drove across the state to say good-bye. We got to the funeral and set ourselves in the back and toward the side of the building.
After the funeral was over, I had received a text from his son stating: “I knew that you would be there (Numbers 30:2; Deuteronomy 23:23).”
Some would ask, “What is the big deal with these compliments?”
In response, I say, “I am pleased to see that the Lord has created a reflection of His son, in bearing fruit (John 15:8), that the world now sees what is being done to the glory of the Father (Matthew 5:16).”
