Why is Michael Avenatti’s Indictment For Ripping Off A Porn Star National News, But This Story Involving Gloria Allred Faces Blackout?

On Thursday, I reported on the indictment of attorney Michael Avenatti for ripping off porn actress Stormy Daniels for $300,000.  In that report, I briefly referenced how it seems to becoming more commonplace that attorneys are just ripping off their clients for six figures and specifically, I was referring to a series I’ve written on the case of Deanna Williams in Florida, who also had hundreds of thousands of dollars stolen and swindled from her that dwarf the figure attributed to Avenatti against Daniels.  In addition, it appears the Williams own attorney at the time of her own settlement, Gloria Allred, pocketed another six-figure income on top of the agreed fees she and her partner and their firm’s Florida attorney received.

First, let me say that despite that Ms. Daniels is a prostitute and porn star, she didn’t deserve to have money stolen from her by her attorney.  So good, he got indicted over it and I hope justice is brought to bear on him for his behavior.

Second, why is the story of Deanna Williams not national news?  Gloria Allred appears to have done virtually the same thing, along with her partner Nathan Goldberg and their Florida partner Jonathan Heller, as I have pointed out in previous articles.  They agreed to take, on top of their settlement fees, and additional six-figure amount of money, according to Ms. Williams, in order to pay for previous attorney fees she had before hiring them, according to the retainer agreement signed by all four people.

According to the retainer agreement Ms. Williams provided The Washington Standard:

“As for attorneys fees, you agree to pay us a fee equal to forty (40%) percent of the gross amount recovered.  This percentage constitutes the entire amount of fees you will be responsible to pay us, as well as all your prior counsel.  Towards that end, we will take all reasonable steps to negotiate prior counsels’ undetermined fees which they may claim by way of their respectively filed charging liens.  This includes the claim of your first layer, Peter Itzler.”

Allred told The Washington Standard that Ms. Williams current situation of being sued for those attorney fees that she promised to pay were not her problem and had nothing to do with her.  Allred wrote via email:

We represented Ms. Williams approximately 7 years ago.  She has had a number of lawyers since then.

Any legal problems that Ms. Williams faces has nothing to do with our representation of her and there is no factual basis for the assertions set forth in your email.

We suggest that you review the public documents in the case of Victim Justice, P.C., et al v. v. Deanna Williams, Case number 13-CA-003181 pending in Lee County, Florida, prior to making any further false statements.

Also, you do not appear to have possession of all the relevant confidential documents. Your statements are based on incomplete information which has led you to a false and misleading conclusion. Ethical rules which prohibit disclosure of attorney client communications preclude us from providing additional documents to you or commenting further.

Understand, Ms. Williams was a victim of rape, which led to her having to have attorneys in the first place.  Then, once a settlement was reached in the civil case because the Sheriff’s office would not press charges against the Major League Baseball player that she accused, she thought things would be handled according to the agreement that she paid handsomely to have resolved.

Additionally, according to Williams, Allred’s Florida attorney Jonathan Heller also took her for an additional amount of nearly $170,000 on top of that.

But they weren’t.  The attorneys came looking for their money while Allred and company pocketed the additional six-figure amount that Williams paid to resolve the matter.

Then, when Williams had to use the settlement money to defend herself against her previous attorneys who were to be paid, one of them intercepted one of the settlement payments without authorization from Ms. Williams.  That amount was $200,000!

She fired him.

That led to the next attorney coming in to help her and instead of actually helping her, he gave away another settlement payment of $200,000 by what he refers to in an affidavit to the court as an “error.”  He was paid big money and failed to read the agreement he signed, but didn’t have enough integrity to file for a hearing to get Ms. Williams’ money back.

All in all, Ms. Williams has been taken for nearly $800,000 from her attorney in total, not to mention the amount of money she has paid them for their services.

And because the job was not done according to the agreement and funds stolen from her, she is now facing a judgment against her via a judge that was busted in a prostitution sting for a plaintiff in the case who didn’t provide one service to her named Scott Mager of Mager Paruas for over $1 million.  Mager has also pursued her arrest despite her having multiple sclerosis and having a high-risk pregnancy at the time, which later would result in the stillbirth of her child.

And this isn’t national news, but Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti are?

No wonder no one trusts the media today!

If you would like to help Ms. Williams in her quest for justice so that she can acquire an attorney outside the area that will actually represent her, please click here to contribute to her GoFundMe page designed for that specific reason.  An attorney is expensive and she has two that will take the case but they require a $15,000 retainer, money she obviously does not have.
